HEART OF THE ROCKIES REGIONAL MEDICAL CENTER

Job Title: Registered Nurse Department: Adult and Pediatrics Reports To: Adult & Pediatrics Supervisor FLSA Status: non-exempt

SHIFTS: 3 Night shifts per week

SCOPE STATEMENT: Perform both independent nursing functions and delegated medical function to provide high quality direct patient care for the adult and pediatric population in the acute care and skilled nursing (swing bed) care setting. Initiation and performance of nursing care through health promotion, supportive or restorative care, disease prevention, diagnosis and treatment of human disease, ailment, pain, injury, deformity, and physical or mental condition using specialized knowledge, judgment, and skill involving the application of biological, physical, social, and behavioral science principles.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS: Must maintain current, active license as a Registered Nurse in the State of Colorado. Must maintain current CPR certification. Must maintain current ACLS certification within 60 days of hire. Must maintain current PALS certification within 60 days of hire.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES PER AREA OF RESPONSIBILITY

1. Directly provides acute care and swing bed patient care as a team member at the highest standards of evidence-based practice;

2. Evaluating health status through the collection and assessment of health data;

3. Provide health teaching and health counseling;

4. Provide therapy and treatment that is supportive and restorative to life and well- being either directly to the patient or indirectly through consultation with, delegation to, supervision of, or teaching of others;

5. Execute delegated medical functions;

6. Review and monitor therapy and treatment plans;

7. Correctly, accurately, and timely documentation in the medical record all assessment, interventions, teaching, and care coordination efforts of patient care.

8. Collaborates with ancillary departments and physician providers to address the medical, social, and spiritual needs of the patient in a culturally and age appropriate manner.

QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

Minimum of nursing diploma or Associates degree in nursing; BSN or higher preferred. A minimum of two years of acute care nursing experience preferred.

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Must possess excellent written and verbal communication skills, excellent language, grammar and spelling skills.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, percentages and decimals.

OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES

This position may require special skills listed below.

Accurate, efficient, key-boarding skills; ability to work under pressure with multiple priorities; highly organized.

REASONING ABILITY

Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions to assist with resolutions to issues and problems. Must be able to apply a high level of understanding to carry out detailed and involved written or oral instructions.

CONFIDENTIALITY

Maintains patient, employee, and hospital confidentiality at all times, discussing patient, employee, or hospital business only with appropriate parties who have a bona fide need to know; and communicating only the minimum amount of information necessary with respect to protected health information (PHI) .
