The Retail Assistant/cashier will provide excellent customer service every time to those inquiring or purchasing products from the Ginkgo Boutique. The cashier will assume responsibility for cash register operation and balancing daily sales. The cashier will help maintain and stock inventory, reorders, occasional physical inventory, follow up customer calls/requests as necessary. The gift shop assistant will assist the volunteers of the gift shop as directed by the retail manager. The retail assistants primary job will be performing cashier duties while maintain other functions of the gift shop as directed by the retail manager. The cashier will run transactions associated with online orders, phone orders and daily customers using the point of sale software. The retail assistant will occasionally be required to lift boxes weighing up to 50 pounds.

Overview of Responsibilities:
  • Assists customers and patients with transactions, questions, special orders, deliveries etc. while providing excellent customer service.
  • Greets every customer or patient that enters the Ginkgo Boutique with eye contact and a warm positive tone.
  • Uses computer and software programs with proficiency.
  • Cash register operation including credit card processor and gift card machine.
  • Balances cash drawer at the end of shift.
  • Performs cashier duties including but not limited to completing sales and return transactions.
  • Works with retail management on promotion of sales and advertising sales/promotions including verbally, printing signs, and social media.
  • Coordinates and maintains attractive merchandise displays.
  • Assist and trains volunteers, students, & junior volunteers.
  • Acts of the gift shop manager in absence of management.
  • Relays information from customers to managers and other staff members.
  • Responsible for maintaining regularly stocked items in the Ginkgo Boutique and stock rooms.
  • Maintains a clean organized store front.
  • Responsible for assisting with inventory management and new product data entry by receiving, entering, and pricing merchandise.
  • Responsible for opening and closing the store alone as needed.
  • Receives new merchandise in the stock rooms/gift shop and organizes it appropriately.
  • Answers the phone using the appropriate Ginkgo Boutique greeting within three rings.
  • Transfers calls to the appropriate team member or voicemails.
  • Completes daily worklists and uses restocking lists as available.
  • Restocks the store with merchandise stored in multiple stock rooms.
  • Fills in on unscheduled hours/shifts when needed, may include open or closing shifts.
  • Ability to work alone and be a self-starter.
  • Frequently checks work emails daily for updates and Ginkgo Boutique departmental communications.
  • Checks Ginkgo Boutique email frequently per shift for online orders.
  • Assists with verifying deposit amounts and delivering deposits to Reid Health Security.
  • Documents damaged, stolen, and outdated merchandise on loss log.
  • Processes product returns/damages as needed.
  • Uses proper hospital used programs for communication and requests. (Kronos, e-mail, TMS work orders, marketing forms etc.)
  • Communicates inventory needs for stamps, candy, massage cards & gift cards as needed routinely.
  • Contacting customers when special orders are received in the store.
Education/Experience:
Education Required: High School Diploma or equivalent required
Education Preferred: Experience Required: Minimum 2 years sakes experience, retail or similar environment. Must have excellent computer and typing skills.
Experience Preferred: Point of sale experience, merchandising and display experience helpful.
Schedule Details: Day Shift. 40 hours weekly. Monday - Friday 10:45a-7p or 8:30a-5p. What We Offer:
