Receptionist

General Statement:

This part-time position is the individual that our customers will have their first personal interaction with. It is vital that the first impression given to the customer shows a pleasant, friendly, and knowledgeable attitude. Customer service and hospitality knowledge are essential in dealing with the public. Consistency in informing customers of policy must be firm, yet polite.

This position works closely with the general public and the rest of the Trek & Trail staff. Must be a team player and maintain a cooperative and can-do attitude and relationships. Necessary skills also include possessing oral and written communication experience, above average problem-solving ability, and basic math along with cash handling skills. Organization and computer knowledge for the scheduling system is essential as there are many details that must be obtained to book trips such as food, allergies, and other special needs.

Essential Functions and Related Tasks:

Essential and other important responsibilities and duties may include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Provide a high level of customer service at all times. Project and maintain a positive image on behalf of the Trek & Trail during the course of performing the duties of the position.

2) Exceptional level of self-motivation is required for this position. Must have ability to be motivated and productive at all times and particularly when owner is not present. Position requires a high level of common sense and ability to make judgment calls in absence of owner.

3) Daily tasks include answering phones, greet customers taking trips, book and schedule trips for customers, provide necessary information about the business and surrounding area to customers, maintain retail area, file necessary reports with Park Service, place food orders, prepare reports for guides and other staff.

4) Ability to:

  • Communicate effectively with customers, the general public and staff
  • Work courteously and tactfully with customers, the general public and staff
  • Work independently and effectively in the course of carrying out assigned duties
  • Work cooperatively with other employees, vendors, and agencies
  • Carry out written and verbal orders efficiently and completely with minimal supervision
  • Help maintain all devices, equipment, and tools used for the job and to operate all equipment with care to insure the preservation of equipment, prevent injury to other employees and the general public, and prevent property damage
  • Perform related duties as necessary and assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Must be capable of carrying out tasks efficiently and productively in absence of supervision
  • Excellent customer service skills
  • Knowledge of basic computer functions and operations
  • Must have, and maintain as a condition of employment, access to dependable transportation

Work is performed in mostly an indoor setting. The Receptionist will be frequently required to sit and stand for extended period of time, crouch on occasion, walk over rough or uneven surfaces, talk, hear, navigate stairs and may occasionally lift heavy objects.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee will work frequently with office equipment, work in indoor, and minimal outdoor, settings. The employee will be exposed to hot and cold temperatures, precipitation, fumes from paints and epoxies, fuels, and cleaning supplies.

Job Types: Full-time, Part-time

Pay: $13.00 - $18.00 per hour
