Summary

We are looking for a highly motivated PhD-trained individual for a postdoc position and team player with a strong interest in understanding the cancer biology of leukemia and early T-cell development/regeneration with a goal to develop the basic science foundation needed to improve the effectiveness and safety of current medical treatments. Specific methodologies include (but not limited to):

  • Protein-protein and protein-DNA interaction biochemistry (mass spectrometry, co-immunoprecipitation; ChIP; reverse-ChIP, NMR)
  • Transcriptional genomics (ChIP-Seq/ATAC-Seq library preparation; RNA preparation for RNA-Seq library preparation; computational analyses of sequencing data using existing pipelines; basic bioinformatics)
  • Transcription factor assays (reporter; CRISPRi; ChIP; gel shift; qRT-PCR)
  • Early T-cell development and leukemogenesis assays (flow cytometry sorting and analysis; histology; bone marrow transplantation; intrathymic injections; retroviral transduction and transplantation; in vitro stromal cell culture; transplantation in NSG mice)

Model systems include:

  • Genetically engineered mouse models (Cre-loxP)
  • Human leukemia patient-derived xenograft models
  • Human and mouse leukemia cell lines

Responsibilities*

  • Design, perform, analyze, and interpret experiments with a level of supervision from PI and other lab members in line with existing skill set with goal towards independence
  • Work as a team with other lab members, such as the bioinformaticist and the lab manager/work-study students who manage the mouse colony and maintain the lab
  • Supervise undergraduate and rotation students
  • Train other lab members as needed
  • Collaborate with members of other labs as needed
  • Write first-authored manuscripts for publication
  • Write first-authored abstracts for intramural/extramural research conferences
  • Generate and present posters and give talks at lab meetings, combined lab meetings, and intramural/extramural research conferences
  • Travel to research conferences and other labs outside the university as needed

Required Qualifications*

PhD in a biomedical field

Desired Qualifications*

Experience in genetically engineered mouse models or protein biochemistry or transcription factor assays

Background Screening
