General Summary: Assists physicians and research staff in conduct of research study visits and operations of the research department. This position is limited to providing clinical data abstraction for patients enrolled in the Hennepin Healthcare Research Institute Grant for Exemplar Hospital study for the Initiation to Enhance Treatment Engagement.

Essential Job Responsibilities:
1. Provides clinical data abstraction for patients enrolled in the Initiation to Enhance Treatment Engagement study.
2. Adheres to and supports the mission, purpose, philosophy, objectives, policies, and procedures of Tenet Physician Resource
3. Adheres to the Tenet HIPAA Compliance Plan and the Privacy Standards Confidentiality Agreement.
4. Demonstrates support for the Tenet Corporate Compliance Program by being knowledgeable of compliance responsibilities as expressed in the Code of Conduct; adhering to federal and state laws, rules, regulations, and corporate policies and procedures policies that affect his/her specific job functions/responsibilities; and reporting compliance issues/concerns in a timely and appropriate manner.
5. Provide assistance to study coordinators and regulatory coordinators
6. Perform project coordination for select studies under the supervision of licensed study coordinators
7. Perform patient care activities for research studies.
8. Greet patients as they arrive in the department
9. Prepare patients for exams
10. Assist in obtaining medical histories and vital signs
11. Review demographics and medication with patient.
12. Perform research specific tests on patient
13. Facilitate scheduling for tests
14. Conduct telephone study follow-ups
15. Phone triage for all studies, patients, and RNs
16. Document and record patient care activities and results
17. Assist in developing and implementing recruitment plans for new studies
18. Screen and recruit patients for possible study participation
19. Conduct laboratory functions (All functions are study specific, and must be performed according to study protocol)
20. Perform scheduling activities associated with Research Study
21. Manage supplies and materials required for studies
22. Attend meetings and in-services as required
23. Assist in writing and reviewing Standards Of Practice and other office documents
24. Other duties as assigned

Onboarding Process: Please be advised that candidates must successfully complete a background check and pre-employment health screening which includes a drug screen.

Education: High school diploma/GED and completion of a medical assistant program.

Certification: Medical Assistant Certification or similar experience. CPR certification.

Experience: Must have a minimum of two years of clinical experience working in with a physician in a research capacity.

10. Ability to use EMR, other relevant computer hardware and software, telephone, copier, fax machine and other standard medical office equipment.

Equipment Operated: Medical office equipment/devices as well as standard office equipment including computers, fax machines, copiers, printers, telephones, calculators, etc.

Work Environment: Position is in a well-lit office environment. Occasional evening and weekend work.

Mental/Physical Requirements: Involves standing, bending, crouching or stooping approximately 75 percent of the day, walking or sitting the remainder, using computers and telephones. Ability to push, pull or lift objects greater than 50 pounds. Must have ability to hear/ascertain heart, breath and bowel sounds. Must be able to visually discern pumps and monitors. Must be able to write legibly.
