Reliability Specialist or Reliability Apprentice – Field Service

Brief Description

The Reliability Specialist is responsible for performing condition monitoring using various predictive maintenance (PdM) technologies at refineries, power stations, and other manufacturing environments. This entry-level position will build upon the successful candidate’s technical background to provide clients with useful machinery diagnostics, maintenance recommendations and general plant reliability improvement opportunities. Any familiarity with industrial plants and rotating equipment is a plus, particularly about pumps, motors, fans, compressors and gearboxes.

Depending on whether the candidate has any plant or industrial experience, Red Wolf Reliability will place them in either a Specialist position or an Apprentice position.

For the apprentice position, the successful candidate will develop their skillset in equipment reliability as part of a formal two-year apprenticeship. Red Wolf Reliability, Inc. will provide six weeks of formal training and significant on the job training over the two-year apprenticeship. Apprentices will have the opportunity for bonuses paid at the 12 month and 24-month mark based on successful completion of apprenticeship milestones. Successful completion of the apprenticeship will advance the specialist's understanding of vibration, infrared, ultrasonic and oil analysis PdM technologies. Apprentices will become certified Category II Vibration Analysts, and Category I Infrared Analysts and Category I Ultrasonic Analysts. They will also learn RCM and Root Cause Failure Analysis (RCFA) fundamentals by applying them in their daily role as a reliability specialist.

For the specialist position, the successful candidate will accomplish all the above steps in training but at an accelerated pace.

Tasks

  • Perform vibration, infrared, and ultrasonic data collection and analysis in Refineries, Power Plants, and other Manufacturing Environments as part of a predictive maintenance program
  • Learn how to diagnose common rotating machinery problems and write useful maintenance recommendations
  • Deliver reports in a clear, concise, and technical manner
  • Maintain vibration condition monitoring programs as a first line reliability specialist
  • Interact with onsite personnel (clients) in a professional manner to build customer relationships

Qualifications and Requirements

  • High School Diploma Required
  • 0 – 2 years of general work experience and/or an associate degree preferred. Industrial technology certificate a plus
  • Strong consideration for those with general experience working in a plant/manufacturing environment
  • Must successfully pass DISA background check per clientele requirements and obtain TWIC card
  • Must be a US Citizen
  • Must successfully pass onboarding and random drug screening to include hair follicle analysis per DCCHA consortium requirements (marijuana users will not be hired and will be fired if random drug tests are failed)
  • Must be able to lift 50 lbs, climb stairs and ladders, and walk or stand up to 8 hours per day
  • Ability to wear a respirator while working for short periods and be medically cleared to be respirator fit-tested annually
  • Strong technical aptitude and ability to work with various software and hardware
  • Basic machine and machine component knowledge preferred but not required
  • Apprentices will primarily be based at client locations and must be able to travel or relocate to client locations.

The Field Services Reliability Specialist reports to the Senior Reliability Lead.

Working Conditions

The Field Services Reliability Specialist is often exposed to physical environments that will require the employee to work both inside and outside in heat/cold, wet/humid, and dry/arid conditions. Employees will frequently be required to use personal protective equipment to prevent exposure to hazardous materials or chemicals.
