SALARY: $109,824 per year ($9,152 per month, $52.80 per hour) SR-22, BU:09

This position is located in the East Hawaii Health Clinic Administration which is a department under Ka’u Hospital. Kau Hospital is located on the island of Hawaii and is a part of the East Hawaii Region which includes Hilo Medical Center and Hale Ho’ola Hamakua. It is one of the nine (9) facilities within the Hawaii Health Systems Corporation.

The East Hawaii Health Clinics provides clinical and support services for the outpatient clinics of Kau Hospital. Services include consultation, new patient and follow-up care, surgical procedures, in-patient care and emergency room consultations.

The Registered Professional Nurse IV, Assistant Nurse Manager/Educator, is responsible for developing, implementing, and evaluating the East Hawaii Health Clinic Medical Assistant Training Program and the Clinic Competency Assessment Program. The primary functions are to develop, coordinate, conduct and evaluate educational and training services for the clinics; plan and direct the work of assigned personnel during orientation and training and performs other duties as assigned.

Qualified candidates must demonstrate knowledge of the principles of growth and development over the life span and possess the ability to assess data reflective of the patient’s status and interpret the appropriate information needed to identify each patient’s requirements relative to his or her age specific needs, and to provide the care needed for infant (8 days-2 years); child (2-11 years); adolescent (11-18 years); adult (19-64 years) and to geriatric (65 years plus) patient groups.

Required Qualifications: To qualify, you must meet all the following requirements. Please note that unless specifically indicated, the required education and experiences may not be gained concurrently. In addition, qualifying work experience is credited based on a 40-hour workweek.

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, CERTIFICATION, LICENSURE

Education: Graduated from an accredited school of nursing as demonstrated by the possession of a license to practice as a professional nurse in the State of Hawaii. While not required, graduation from an accredited nursing program with a Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university is highly desirable.

Experience: Three (3) years of professional nursing work experience.

Supervisory aptitude is the demonstration of aptitude or potential for the performance of supervisory duties through successful completion of regular or special assignments which involve some supervisory responsibilities or aspects; by serving as a group or team leader; or in similar work in which opportunities for demonstrating supervisory or administrative capabilities exist; by completion of training courses in supervision accompanied by application of supervisory skills in work assignments; or by favorable appraisals by a supervisor indicating the possession of supervisory potential.

Licensure: Possession of a current license to practice as a registered professional nurse in the State of Hawaii.

Certification: BLS certification is required within one (1) month of appointment. Although it is not a requirement the following certifications are preferred: ACLS, PALS, Procedural Sedation, TNCC and NIHSS.

Must be available to work shifts, weekends and holidays, based on clinic/hospital operations (services are provided 24/7).

MEDICAL/PHYSICAL EXAMINATION REQUIREMENT: Offers of employment will be contingent on successfully passing a drug screen and other regulatory medical requirements such as, but not limited to, two-step tuberculosis (TB) screen. The cost for drug screening shall be borne by the Hawaii Health Systems Corporation.

COVID-19 VACCINATION REQUIREMENT: COVID-19 vaccination is a condition of employment for Hawaii Health Systems Corporation. After receiving a conditional offer of employment, all prospective new HHSC employees are required to be fully vaccinated against COVID-19. New employees are required to provide confirmation of their full vaccination status by presenting their CDC vaccination card or VAMS Certificate prior to their start date.
