The Labor and Delivery Unit at Inova Fairfax Medical Campus is seeking an RN Fellow (experienced RN interested in changing specialty to L&D).

Schedule: full-time, night shift with 3 x 12 shifts per week from 7:00pm to 7:00am

Sign-On/Relocation Bonus Information: This position is eligible for a competitive Sign-On Bonus. Candidates who are relocating 50 miles or further are also eligible for relocation assistance.

The Labor and Delivery Unit is located within the Inova Women’s Hospital at on the Inova Fairfax Medical Campus in Falls Church, Virginia. For expectant parents, all of our facilities at Inova Women's Center on the Inova Fairfax Medical Campus offer spacious and beautifully decorated, private labor-delivery recovery rooms designed with your comfort in mind, yet fully equipped with state-of-the-art technology in case of unexpected complications. Our unit has 33 L&D beds and 6 C-Section ORs. Our nurse to patient ratio is 1:2. Inova Fairfax Hospital performs over 10,000 births each year and is a leader in care for high risk pregnancies.

The Inova RN Fellow:

• The RN Fellowship program will develop the necessary clinical skills to practice nursing in a competent manner within a specified service line. The RN Fellow, in an atmosphere of acceptance and support, will learn under the direct supervision of an experienced RN and through various other training formats.
• The RN Fellow participates in learning new knowledge, developing new skills, and meeting program objectives to be able to practice in assigned patient care delivery setting utilizing and applying new knowledge. The RN Fellow will be given time to learn, opportunities to practice, and mentoring to imbed the newly learned skills and knowledge.
• Communicates effectively with patients and families, team members and medical providers. Creates a collaborative team working environment. Has respect for and understanding of clinical disciplines. Uses a focused, integrated approach toward improving patient outcomes and the patient experience of care delivery.

Requirements:

Required Experience: A minimum of 6 months of Registered Nurse or RN changing specialty area of practice

• Minimum Education Requirement: Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN); Master of Science Degree in Nursing (MSN); OR Associates Degree in Nursing (ADN)
  • If Associates Degree RN, the following requirements will apply :
    • Enroll in an accredited BSN program within 6 months of start date
    • Complete BSN within 24 months of start date
• Minimum Licensure/ Certification Requirement :
  • Currently licensed as a Registered Nurse in the State of Virginia or hold a privilege to practice in the State of Virginia under the Enhanced Nurse Licensure Compact (eNLC).
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Provider certification from the American Heart Association required upon start
