We are hiring a Registered Nurse for one of our clients in Margate & Coconut Creek, FL.

Job Description:

• The Senior Community Health Nurse (SCHN) is assigned to provide advanced, comprehensive public health nursing services in the school health program.
• Utilizing the nursing process, the incumbent will be required to provide basic school health services, including independently conducting, coordinating, and monitoring for quality control and assurance.
• The SCHN will perform the functions of the school nurse at assigned comprehensive school to identify students with chronic health conditions and promote student health.
• Additionally, the SCHN may be required to supervise a DOH-Broward Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) or Health Support Technician (HST) assigned to the school.
• The SCHN works with the LPN or HST, as assigned, and school staff to decrease student risk-taking behaviors and reduce the incidence of teenage pregnancy at the comprehensive schools in accordance with Florida statute.

Skills required:

• Knowledge of nursing, public health principles, practices, and/or techniques.
• Knowledge of Medications & Immunizations and how to administer them.
• Ability to observe patient’s reactions to medications.
• Knowledge of health promotion and disease prevention.
• Knowledge of communicable diseases, personal protective equipment and principles of isolation.
• Ability to work effectively with diverse populations, communities, and organizations.
• Ability to educate staff, clients, organizations, and communities on importance of immunizations and health.
• Ability to prioritize, organize, and schedule work assignments to meet deadlines.
• Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing.
• Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others.
• Ability to utilize a computer for data entry and health record documentation.
• Ability to maintain records and reports according to program standards
• Ability to understand and apply applicable rules, regulations, policies and procedures.

Education required:

• Licensure as a Registered Professional Nurse in accordance with Chapter 464, Florida Statutes or eligible to practice nursing in accordance with Florida Administrative Code 210-8.22 or 8.27.
• Associate Degree or Higher in Nursing
• Experience as Paediatric Nurse

Education preferred:

• Experience as School Health Nurse

Licensure, Certification or Registration requirements:

• This occupation requires licensure as a Registered Professional Nurse in accordance with Chapter 464, Florida Statutes or eligibility to practice nursing in accordance with Florida Administrative Code 210-8.22 or 8.27.

Work hours:

• Mon-Fri per Broward County Public School schedule Hours:Margate: 8:30 AM – 4:00 PM

Coconut Creek: 6:50 AM – 1:35 PM
