SUMMARY:

This position performs a variety of customer service, sales, and marketing duties focused on patient referrals to the clinic.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Contact patients referred to by other healthcare providers to schedule appointments.
• Review incoming referrals for accuracy of patient demographics, insurance, validity dates, accurate office contact information etc.
• Answer incoming calls in a friendly manner
• Triage phone calls to appropriate department or individual
• Assist with callbacks to patients, doctor's offices, and insurance companies
• Review details and expectations about referrals with patients and ensure complete and accurate patient demographic/insurance information is entered into EHR system.
• Understand common medical terminology and insurance verification process
• Organize and access electronic health records from licensed medical facilities and release records to patients/and or other facilities.
• Assists patients with checking in and out, verifying insurance and taking payments
• Maintains patient right to privacy by not discussing privileged information outside the work area or within hearing range of visitors, family or patient
• Collaborate with managers and specialists to ensure referral practices are being followed.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• High school education or equivalent.
• Experience working in the healthcare industry preferred.
• Experience with insurance preferred.
• Effective communication skills, written and verbal.
• Ability to communicate effectively with physicians and other medical professionals.
