About this role:

This Lab Technician IV role offers an employee the opportunity to be part of the Complaint Investigation Site within the Post Market Quality Assurance team at Boston Scientific. The primary activity for this role is to complete returned product analysis to address field complaint allegations against Boston Scientific products. This position is a vital part of improving patient care by ensuring Boston Scientific device allegations are investigated efficiently and effectively.


Your responsibilities will include:

  • Performs a variety of duties in the electrical, mechanical, electro-mechanical, chemical, or optical areas.
  • Constructs, operates, troubleshoots, adjusts, maintains and/or tests equipment, systems or products.
  • Performs returned product analysis by working from schematics, engineering drawings, and written/verbal instructions.
  • Performs tests, analyzes data and maintains detailed documentation for reports to support returned product analysis activities.
  • Reviews and/or develops processing instructions.
  • May assist in the calibration & maintenance of equipment in the Returns, Device and Analysis department.
  • Responds to internal and external customer queries concerning product location or returned product analysis.
  • Actively interfaces with other Boston Scientific departments to corroborate special needs or procedure changes for returned product processing.
  • May assist in the transfer of technology and/or contribute in cross-functional discussions regarding device performance allegations.
  • Serves as a support role for other positions in the Complaint Investigation Site as needed.
  • May Support/Train junior level Technicians on failure analysis techniques & understanding schematics/circuits.
  • Position could be considered for a Technician V depending on candidate competency level.
  • Collaborate with the Complaint Investigation Site Engineering team to determine investigation activities for new failure modes supporting efficient/effective responses to complaint allegations against BSC Product


Required qualifications:

  • 6 years with AA degree or an equivalent combination of education/ work experience
  • High attention to detail
  • Ability to work as part of a team.
  • Excellent documentation skills
  • Experience reading and understanding circuits/schematics.


Preferred qualifications:

  • Two-year AA degree in an engineering or technical related field
  • Experience working in a laboratory setting.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft desktop environment: Windows, Word and Outlook
  • Previous experience working with medical products in a regulated environment.
  • 10+ years’ experience in a related discipline
