Purpose

The Sewing Mechanic is responsible for maintaining the day-to-day function, operation, maintenance, and determines and coordinates the upkeep and or repairs of the sewing equipment in manufacturing.

Responsibilities

  • Perform a variety of tasks on industrial sewing machines, (numerous stitch types) and quilting machines to deliver effective safety, performance, and quality in production of mattresses.
  • Set-up, repair, and programming of automated machines.
  • Assemble machines or mechanical components according to requirements.
  • Inspect machines and run diagnostic tests to discover functionality issues.
  • Conduct repairs aiming for maximum reliability.
  • Troubleshoot reported problems and resolve them in a timely manner.
  • Perform thorough maintenance on machinery.
  • Clean and apply lubricants to machinery components.
  • Provide consultation on correct maintenance and preventative measures to machine users.
  • Undertake other duties as assigned.
  • Keep logs of work and report on issues.
  • Develops and maintains Maintenance system Procedures and instruction– Autonomous, Preventive and Corrective.
  • Provides and participates on training Operators.

Requirements

  • Hands on experience, skills, and ability to diagnose and resolve problems.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in set up, maintenance, and repair of industrial Quilting and sewing machines required.
  • Critical thinking skills, desire to learn and ability to operate in a diverse, fast paced, team environment required.
  • Working experience on Electrical systems, electrical and ladder logic schematics.
  • Hands on experience on welding.
  • Must have reliable and consistent attendance.
  • Bilingual – (Spanish)
  • Must be able to stand and walk for a minimum of 8 hours per day or longer in overtime situations as required.
  • Frequently utilize visual acuity to operate equipment, read technical information, and/or use a keyboard.
  • Occasionally required to lift/push/carry items less than 25 pounds / up to 25 pounds/ up to 50 pounds/ more than 50 pounds.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $25.00 per hour
