  • Perform final inspection on trailers as completed by Manufacturing at the end of the assembly line.
  • Must be able to perform a variety of semiskilled and skilled manual duties with the ability to use a variety of measuring and testing devices and tools.
  • Read and Interpret Sales order requirements and compare to Bill of Material requirements, then inspect actual trailer to requirements as defined on the Build/Sales order and Bill of Materials.
  • Verify placement of items on the trailers as required by the Build/Sales order and Bill of Materials.
  • Perform trailer inspections using a variety of inspection standards/criteria repeatedly.
  • Measure and/or test various parts and/or systems to ensure they function and meet Transcraft quality standards.
  • Document any nonconformities/findings that do not meet set requirements, and ensure those findings are repaired and meet set requirements.
  • Review and verify additional documentation with each job packet to ensure prior operations have been signed off as complete as well as visually inspecting those completed items.
  • Enter data into SAP, excel or other data collection formats as required.
  • Supervised/Report to shift Quality Technician.
  • Communicate daily with Quality department personal to maintain awareness of issues and findings as well as improvement ideas.
  • Communicate daily with manufacturing personnel of any findings/nonconformities and/or other issues that effect or would affect the quality of the product.
  • Must be willing to work Overtime as needed, work split shift, and night shift.
  • May be required to perform other duties as requested by Supervision.

Physical Demands

  • Requires minimum of eight hours of standing, bending, squatting, kneeling, pushing, pulling, walking, and climbing on or under trailers with a full range of body motions/mechanics.
  • Regularly required to lift up to 25 pounds, frequently required to lift up to 50 pounds with occasional lift of up to 75 pounds may be required.
  • Must be able to work in an environment requiring the use of ladders, stairs, climbing on and under trailer, and/or working on/from a platform.
  • May be required to operate a variety of power/hand tools, measuring devices, and/or test equipment
  • Utilize appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) as required.

Working Conditions and Environment

The work environment includes exposure to high decibel noise, varying temperature and weather conditions, metal welding processes, assembly processes, wood cutting, and paint processes which may include exposure to various chemicals and solvents as well as paints and caulking.

Requirements:
  • Have good written and verbal communication skills.
  • Basic computer skills in Word, & Excel, with the ability and desire to learn additional computer programs & functions as needed.
  • Have basic knowledge of Assembly, Fabrication, and Weld techniques and processes as well as understand basic problem solving methods/techniques.
  • Use basic measuring devices/tools, measuring tape, torques wrench, gages, etc.
  • Can read and understand Prints and written specification/standards.
  • Self-motivated with a desire to follow through on assigned tasks/processes.
  • High school degree or G.E.D equivalent is preferred for this position.
