Position Purpose:

The purpose of the Quality Control & Safety Manager position is to manage all aspects of the company’s Quality Management System (QMS) and the corporate level Safety Management System (SMS).



Essential Functions

Quality Control

  • Responsible for the development, implementation and upkeep of the QMS.
  • Manage department specific activities to address any and all non-conformities resulting from such audits.
  • Monitor performance through KPIs and implement corrective action when performance drops below acceptable levels.
  • Partner with Senior Management to review KPIs regularly in order to determine appropriateness of objectives. Advise on any additions or deletions of KPIs.
  • Develop a QC model that will sustain companywide accountability.
  • Act as QC liaison between sales, purchasing and operations,
  • Investigate, document and report out on any non-conforming material found throughout the company.
  • Direct quarantine activities throughout the company, including management of quarantine areas.
  • Document all customer-related quality issues and partner with the sales department to determine outcome and any training involved to eliminate further non-compliance/customer satisfaction issues.
  • Take the lead role with internal communication and investigation on all BPS Performance and BPS Quality emails to coordinate an internal action plan for each reported issue.
  • Take the lead on communication with all branches to determine non-conforming inventory levels and coordinate any action taken (quarantine process)
  • Create and distribute quality related documentation companywide including NCR (Non-Conformance Report), SDR (Service Deficiency Report), etc.
  • Point of Contact for Quality related MSA requests. Responsible for filling out and submitting questionnaires to Credit group.
  • Work with department managers in development of SOPs for RF and non-RF environments.
  • Participate and support Operations with branch audits
  • Spot check and audit receiving procedures for accuracy.
  • Work with branch managers to create cycle count SOP and audit current branches who are performing cycle counts.
  • Develop plan to investigate any inventory adjustments – high dollar adjustments as priority.

Safety

  • Develop, train, and maintain a companywide Safety Management System (SMS) that is OSHA compliant and develops a culture of safety first.
  • Train employees on safety policies, procedures, and regulations based on our IIPP standards
  • Safety administration duties to include ISNetworld, PEC Safety, and Browz compliance.
  • Complete annual ND WSI program for insurance incentives
  • Ensure all branches are conducting monthly or quarterly warehouse safety inspections.
  • Maintain and update weekly tailgate program as needed
  • Manage and maintain the company’s Injury and Illness Prevention Program (IIPP) in accordance with OSHA guidelines.
  • Investigate all internal near misses, equipment accidents and injury/non-injury incidents to include any claims processes with insurance company.
  • Create corporate level safety reports (Near Miss and Accident-Injury Reports) and send out regularly.
  • Point of Contact for all liability (insurance) accidents.
  • Responsible for contacting insurance company for claim filing and determining Claim vs. out of pocket decision on claims.
  • Claims follow up with insurance company adjusters and liaison between branch manager, employee, and insurance company.
  • Establish an internal filing system to track all incidents to include near miss and non-filed claims.
  • Coordinate with Controller and CFO any monetary reimbursements to determine proper coding in financials.
  • Produce company wide and branch specific OSHA logs by specified date (Feb 1) each year.
  • Ensure all injury and liability claims are investigated, reported, and filed accordingly with our insurance broker and according to EDIC guidelines.
  • Point of Contact for for First Report of injury reporting and filing.

Recommended Job Knowledge, Skill and Ability:

  • Strong Leadership, administrative, organizational, managerial and communication skills.
  • Demonstrated analytical ability to gather and interpret information, and develop, recommend and implement solutions.
  • Two or more years of safety and/or quality management experience preferred
  • Demonstrated familiarity with ISO standards and OSHA regulations preferred.
  • Oil and gas industry experience preferred
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Management, Safety Management, and/or Quality Management preferred but not required.
