Quality Control Inspector Position Purpose
The purpose is to ensure that repairs done by the service department are of excellent quality and to reduce the unrecoverable rental damage expense.
Quality Control Inspector Essential Functions
  • Inspect incoming rental machines to determine the extent of repairs that are needed
  • Inspect machines after repairs are made to ensure a quality repair has been done
  • Inspect incoming rental machines for needed repairs and damages. Fill out inspection forms and take photographs.
  • Inform product service managers of work needed on incoming rental machines
  • Inspect damages, determine who damaged the machine
  • Start quote process with parts required; all labor quotes provided by PSM to rentals in 24 hours and Rental quote to the customer within 48 hours
  • Confirm work needed matches the existing quote. If no quote makes an inspection and starts the quote process. QCI to quote parts only. All customer labor quoted is to be provided by PSM
  • Coordinate with the rentals coordinator and yard technician on equipment tags and location in the yard
  • Assist with oversight of detail technician on the cleanliness of rental and customer units when received and prior to shipment
  • Check all units for repairs completed, cleanliness, Proper usage of rental-ready tags
  • Follows all company safety policies and procedures
Quality Control Inspector Minimum Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or Equivalent
  • Five (5) years experience as a heavy equipment technician.
  • Intermediate level skills in computer software including Excel, Word, E-mail, Internet
  • Ability to perform diagnostics (hydraulic and electrical)
  • Experience and ability to perform tests on construction and mining equipment.
  • Ability to speak, read and write in English.
Quality Control Inspector Physical Qualifications
  • Pushing/Pulling/Lifting/Carrying up to 50 pounds without assistance.
  • Physical ability to squat, twist, turn, bend, stoop, climb, and reach overhead.
  • Must be able to work in extreme heat or cold and/or wet, damp, dusty, or windy conditions and tolerate exposure to typical noises, hazardous materials, and fumes/odors associated with the shop.
  • Physical ability to perform inspections on equipment for extended hours of time with continual mounting and dismounting throughout the workday.
  • Ability to adhere to personal protective equipment (PPE) policy and maintain individual PPE in a functional condition.
