Quality Assurance (QA) Specialist (Full Time, Regular) – Central Office Operations

Hours: 36 hours per week; Monday - Thursday 9:00 am to 5:00 pm and Fridays 9:00-1:00pm.

Pay Rate: $40.06 to $42.74 per hour

Program Overview:

Located in the Mission Bay area, The CRF Central Office provides management and support services for all CRF programs and PERT, Inc. Our Central Office consists of the following departments: Business Services, Human Resources, Accounting, Information Technology, Real Estate and Facilities, and Quality Improvement.

The Quality Improvement (QI) team responds to and tracks incidents, complaints, and reporting elements. The QI team also assists with the development and implementation of CRF policies and procedures and process improvements. The QA Specialist is a new position within the QI Department and will focus on company-wide billing and documentation practices. A high level of confidentiality and discretion is required.

Typical Duties of the QA Specialist

  • Audit, review and evaluate medical records, clinical documentation and billing records performed by direct service staff to ensure they are complete, accurate, and in compliance with all guidelines and regulations.
  • Provide results, reports and feedback to CRF Executive Team, QI and program staff as needed.
  • Develop corrective measures and plans to address any problematic documentation and billing.
  • Make recommendations for disallowance and billing corrections as needed and oversee the correction process in conjunction with program staff and the County billing unit.
  • Provide feedback, education and training to programs and staff regarding accurate and compliant billing and documentation practices.
  • Track and monitor the Peer Review and Quarterly Professional Review processes for CRF programs.
  • Provide back-up QI consultation to programs regarding crises, safety, criteria for incidents, mandated reporting, and other reporting requirements.
  • Continuous monitoring of adherence to CARF, CCL, County, State, Federal and other regulatory standards.
  • Perform other QI duties as assigned by the supervisor.

Qualifications/Skills Requirement

  • Licensed Psychologist, Social Worker, Professional Clinical Counselor, or Marriage and Family Therapist is required.
  • Minimum 2 years of experience working with individuals who have a serious mental illness.
  • Demonstrated success and high-quality billing and documentation practices.
  • Strong writing skills including attention to detail and editing. Experience writing CRF or County Serious Incident reports is preferred.
  • Experience providing clinical consultation and feedback is preferred.
  • Ability to respond to communicate and consult effectively with program management.
  • Knowledge of CRF and County protocols, and legal and ethical requirements.
  • Experience with and knowledge of the Uniform Clinical Records Manual and documentation requirements and standards.
  • Intermediate to advanced proficiency in MS Office applications, most importantly Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
