General Summary
Under direction and general supervision, the QA Technician will provide quality assurance support to the fresh bakery system. The QA technician will maintain quality system documentation, records and databases. This person will also provide quality information on a timely basis for the smooth operation of the plant. Proficient use of software programs such as Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, SharePoint and others will be required to effectively perform job duties. Maintains laboratory instrumentation, lab procedures, analytical recordkeeping, calibration, and high level of Good Laboratory Practices.
Principal Accountabilities
1. Perform light analytical tests and keep work area clean and organized. These test include oil testing, pH testing, moisture, etc.
2. Coordinate product samples requirements for external and internal showings and panels.
3. Support the environmental swab program as directed.
4. Provides data analysis, product summaries, and inspection results to management for appropriate product review and disposition.
5. Provides Quality support to the operation through inspection and verification activities
6. Facilitates the collection, organization, storage and retention of Quality System documentation including operations paperwork, COAs, Lab Analytical Reports, etc.
7. Collects, analyzes and prepares monthly scorecard data.
8. Participates as an active member on continuous improvement projects.
9. Puts personnel safety and food safety at the forefront of all tasks.
Job Complexity
  • Performs quality support through observation, verification, and inspection at critical processing steps. Tasks may be operator procedure verifications, inspections of equipment and cleaning performance, as well as raw material, in-process product, or finished product evaluations.
  • Analyzes key product and process measurables to understand process capability, identify process drift, and effects on finished product quality.
  • Collaborate with Operations, Quality, Maintenance, Engineering, and Sanitation to troubleshoot a product defect or processing issue. Participate in the discussion of potential root causes and assist with the implementation of effective corrective and preventative actions.
  • Analyze testing results and escalating to appropriate parties as required.
Job Specifications
  • BS Degree in a science field, preferred
  • Strong technical acumen - ability to troubleshoot a problem, involve other stakeholders as necessary, and brainstorm potential root causes
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Computer skills required- Microsoft Excel, SharePoint, Microsoft Word
  • Knowledge of basic food safety programs preferred.
Working Conditions
Ability to work off shifts when required
Ability to push/pull/lift up to 50 lbs. when required

The base salary range for this full-time, salaried position is between
$57,200.00 - $85,800.00
An individual’s base pay depends on a number of factors, such as experience, job-related skills, and relevant education or training. Total pay may include other forms of compensation, such as a performance-based bonus and other short- and long-term incentives. In addition, we offer competitive health, dental, 401(k), and wellness benefits beginning on one’s first day of employment.
