QUALITY ASSURANCE COORDINATOR

Fast growing juice company located in Fort Pierce Florida is seeking an experienced Quality Assurance Coordinator with 5+ years of prior experience in beverage/dairy manufacturing or medical/technical laboratory environment.

The Quality Assurance team is responsible for the implementation and execution of Quality Management and Food Safety Systems at the plant level, including distribution storage facilities. This position is responsible for the controls and processes in the plant, through strict adherence to policies, specifications, and standards. Utilizes methods, tools, and procedures to deliver zero defects from incoming raw materials to outgoing finished goods in a food safe environment. The position ensures that facility personnel are properly resourced and trained to execute their quality responsibilities efficiently and effectively. The position has supervisory responsibilities, including developing talent; overseeing the HACCP program, food safety and audit requirements; and department purchasing and budget management.

Key Components of the role include:

  • Leads and ensures all Food Safety and Quality elements and programs.
  • Ensure USDA and FDA regulations compliance and acts as primary interface with regulatory representatives.
  • Maintain robust food safety and quality program including HACCP, pest control, GMP’s and traceability, raw and finished product specifications, labeling compliance, allergen management and environmental monitoring programs.
  • Ensure compliance of Sanitation policies, programs, and procedures.
  • Ensure compliance and audit readiness for SQF, regulatory and customer audits.
  • Maintain Quality KPIs.
  • Supports plant quality and microbiology lab to ensure all methods, equipment and measurements meet reliability and repeatability standards and maintains, trends and communicates results.
  • Assists with R&D and engineering projects through design and commercialization phases.
  • Ensures compliance with customer requirements (specifications), quality and food safety requirements and incorporates into the facility quality and food safety control plan.
  • Ensure compliance with the control plan to deliver Food Safety, Regulatory, and Critical characteristics of a product or process.
  • Supports execution of plant trials for both new products and equipment commissioning.
  • Track, report, and review the Quality Performance Indicators on a regular basis to drive continuous improvement.
  • Owns customer/consumer complaint investigation and resolution.
  • Develop, implement, and communicate effective product hold & containment program to ensure appropriate control of quality/food safety defects.
  • Escalate early warnings of defects and non-compliance to senior management.
  • Ensure Corrective Action Reports are utilized and effective and are implemented and verified.
  • Coach and develop all plant leaders in quality and food safety.
  • Direct management and development of quality and laboratory staff.

Requirements:

  • BS Food Science/Microbiology/Chemistry or other relevant sciences
  • Minimum of 5 years of Quality Assurance and/or laboratory / technical testing experience.
  • SQF Practitioner
  • PCQI Certification
  • HACCP certification

If a candidate is qualified but not certified, we would participate in getting their certification.
