Summary

Supports strategic direction through executing integration between procurement, material control processes and other business functions. Responsible for inventories, replenishment and network strategies, warehousing, order quantities, lead time, obsolescence and product introductions and renovations. Work is closely managed. Works on projects/matters of limited complexity in a support role.

Duties

Drives integration through collaboration with other buyers, purchasing managers, suppliers, and internal customers for executing the inbound supply chain. Develop processes and measures for ensuring continuous improvement for the established supply chain vision and goals.


Identifies opportunities in inbound supply chain, develops and implements strategies to improve identified opportunities. Assists as needed in implementing processes to support improvements in the supply chain.


Recommends and implements strategies developed by others for reducing or eliminating obsolescence and slow-moving inventories.


Monitors, defines, and manages supply chain needs through the execution of MRP.


Develops and executes inventory stocking strategies as developed by Purchasing Manager, category management, upper level buyer or materials management (Including Vendor Managed Inventory). Communicates these strategies to all internal and external customers.


Develops, maintains, and communicates reporting mechanisms for tracking compliance against stocking strategies and other inventory management.


Requests and evaluates strategies from suppliers and recommends corrective actions to drive compliance with inventory levels, obsolescence, invoicing compliance and on time deliveries, etc.


Consistently looks to improve Total Cost of Ownership by collecting information, analyzing, recommending, communicating, and executing improvement activities, collaborating with the Purchasing Manager and upper level buyer.


Required Qualifications
  • Awareness and understating of supply chain and the interrelationship between procurement and business functions.
  • Continuous Improvement mindset
  • Strong analytical / mathematical skills required. Familiar with root cause analysis.
  • Effective written and verbal communication.
  • Professionalism and effective interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to multi-task in fast-paced environment

Education

Bachelor's degree (B. A.) from four-year College or university preferred

Experience

Typically requires 0-3 years of related experience. 2 to 3 years purchasing experience preferred.

Computer Skills

Proficient with MS Suite, specifically Excel skills.

Strong understanding of ERP functionality.
