Webster Parish E-911 Communications is currently accepting applications for a part time 911 Telecommunicator. Part-time telecommunicators work Wednesday-Saturday, 7 hour shifts (2pm-9pm), with guaranteed 24-28 hours per week. Additional working hours may be available as staffing needs arise. This may include nights, weekends and/or holidays.
The application process includes a background check and pre-employment drug screening. Some duties may include: receiving emergency calls by telephone, radio system or computer-aided dispatch system, questioning callers to obtain pertinent information to determine an appropriate course of action, creating and maintaining electronic logs of all calls received and preparing reports as necessary. Completion of emergency training and/or certification may also be required.
Desired characteristics include strong communication skills, the ability to exercise good judgement, the ability to operate various computer and telephone equipment, map reading and the ability to multi-task.
High school diploma/GED is required. Previous experience in emergency services is preferred but not required.
