Salary Range: Salary is commensurate with related experience


2 Years’ Experience- $75,000-$85,000


3-4 Years’ Experience $85,000-$95,000


4-6 Years’ Experience: $95,000-$102,000

This position will work with stakeholders to deliver on the Strategic Sourcing Vision and create a lower Total Cost of Ownership structure. This role is responsible for the sourcing strategy for the following services:

  • Mechanical services (freight car inspection and repair and Detector services, etc.)
  • Signal construction services (Signal construction, horizontal boring)
  • Mechanical Department facility construction and renovation services
  • Other system-wide construction projects as-needed


The role will support in the development and execution of supplier management strategies, oversee and conduct bids for services, negotiate contracts, and coordinate with stakeholders to meet service needs.


Primary responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Strategic sourcing of services and some material
  • Managing daily service requests
  • Developing and completing RFPs
  • Reviewing, editing, and negotiating contracts
  • Working with Legal department to complete time-sensitive contracts
  • Establishing service level agreements (SLAs)
  • Identification and execution of process improvements
  • Facilitating market research and performing internal data collection and analytics
  • Developing and execution of sourcing strategies
  • Managing relationships with suppliers, internal stakeholders, and business partners


This position will actively participate on cross-functional teams to identify and execute Strategic Sourcing Initiatives for complex commodities and sourcing projects. The position must also provide recommendations on savings opportunities, advise on the selection of suppliers, facilitate market research and internal data collection, and analyze supplier technology and supply markets. This role is an individual contributor role.


Qualifications:


  • Applicant must have a bachelor’s degree in business, civil engineering or related field.
  • Applicant must have a minimum of two (2) years of professional business experience in procurement OR two (2) years of internal BNSF experience.
  • Preferred qualifications include some experience or educational background relating to engineering disciplines, and/or construction of facilities, bridges, or track.
  • Applicant must be a self-starter, have demonstrated contract drafting and negotiation skills, be familiar with workstations or advanced computer technologies to create analytical models, possess strong quantitative analysis skills, have excellent planning and presentation skills, have strong human relations and communications skills to address controversial issues, and be able to work under time and performance pressures.
  • Applicant must be able to work cross-functionally with multiple internal stakeholder organizations and possess the ability to navigate frequently competing priorities.
  • Familiarity with purchasing tools and systems along with familiarity with legal processes is a plus.
