Classification Title: Information Technology Consultant - Expert

Classification Salary Range: $6,686 - $12,947 monthly.

The anticipated hiring range for this position is $8,000 - $9,500 per month.

The final salary is dependent upon qualifications and experience.

About the Department/Position:

The Process and Project Management (PPM) department supports CSU, Dominguez Hill’s strategic efforts by providing expertise, tools, technologies, and leadership in the areas of project and change management, communications and training, business process improvement, and digital transformation. The PPM department’s primary responsibility is to manage and control project constraints by ensuring project plans are implemented on schedule, within scope, and within budget. Project and Change Management resources, serve to connect teams, elevate planning efforts, and support organizational change and projects with clear pathways.

Under the general direction of the AVP, Process, and Project Management, the Project Coordinator is responsible for providing specialized project coordination support, from inception to completion, for a wide range of university business improvement projects. Responsibilities include working directly with key stakeholders to gather requirements, creating scope and charter documents; evaluating and managing project risk and impact; developing schedules and project plans; tracking project timeline, tasks, and milestones, and monitoring and effectively communicating with project team members and management. The incumbent works closely with project managers and/or project owners to ensure successful and on-time execution of projects by coordinating, allocating, and assigning resources, using project management tools and techniques to assign and follow up on tasks, and organizing ‘go-live’ activities. The incumbent will work with diverse constituents to meet requirements and exceed expectations. They may assist or work directly as the liaison with vendors, contractors, the CSU Chancellor’s Office, and outside agencies; and provide guidance to others in writing business processes to transition projects to operations. The position is key to the delivery of successful projects, initiatives, and services, ensuring the delivery is on time and within budget.

This position may require the incumbent to be on-call 24/7 to assist with systems maintenance and/or resolving emergency or urgent issues. The incumbent is required to maintain contact with their campus outside of their normal working hours on a regular basis per the applicable Collective Bargaining Agreement requirements. Remote contact shall include telephone, cell phone, wireless data access device, remote monitoring of any hardware or software device, and/or electronic mail notification regarding the status of a campus system.

Overview of Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Technical Project Coordination
  • Responsible for all aspects of project management, from inception through completion.
  • Creating integrated plans that account for unplanned work, and that consider phasing large projects.
  • Project planning tasks, including but not limited to understanding project requirements and goals; creating work plans, timelines, and tasks; coordinating project meetings and guiding others to meet deadlines.
  • Project and End-user Documentation
  • Application Administration and Support

Minimum Qualifications:

  • A bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Management Science, or related field from a four-year college or university or equivalent experience with at least eight (8) years of previously demonstrated experience planning, coordinating, and completing comprehensive projects or assignments.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Demonstrated knowledge of, and ability to apply, industry-standard project management methodologies and best practices by effectively organizing and coordinating complex, high-stakes projects.
  • Knowledge of change management methodologies and best practices demonstrated by an ability to gain buy-in and lead groups through change.
  • Knowledge of training theory and practices demonstrated by an ability to develop and deliver technical training and user documentation.
  • The demonstrated project, change management, and organizational skills in coordinating many different tasks, establishing priorities and timelines, and completing deliverables on time.
  • Proven ability in project coordination and planning.
  • Ability to work with diverse staff and team members to reach team and work goals.
  • Proven ability to oversee several concurrent highly visible projects in a fast-paced environment, working directly with high-level stakeholders and subject matter experts.
  • Exhibit professionalism, reliability, composure, and stability under pressure as required for handling on-the-job challenges.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • PMP and/or Change Management certification.
  • Experience working in higher education.
