POSITION OVERVIEW
dormakaba is seeking a Production Supervisor to be a vital part of our business and future growth on our team Indianapolis, IN. This position is responsible for driving success by understanding all dimensions & expectations of the manufacturing production line and is also a key component of driving a Lean and Continuous Improvement culture. This position is responsible for planning, directing, coaching, and supervising production activities and employees in accordance with departmental policies, procedures, and standards to achieve established production goals and desired quality levels. The Production Supervisor is responsible for the short- & long-term development of associates to ensure success of the business.
**This positition is for 3rd shift**
PRIMARY DUTIES

  • Acts as department leader by understanding all dimensions & expectations of production line
  • Serves as department champion & coach of quality, Lean, and process improvements to promote a continuous learning environment
  • Works with Production, Quality & Engineering, and Plant Managers to help employ strategic & operational objectives, assessing the current processes performed among functional areas
  • Completes production plan by scheduling and assigning personnel; accomplishing work results; establishing priorities; monitoring progress; revising schedules; resolving problems; reporting results of the processing flow on shift production summaries
  • Maintains quality service by establishing and verifying organization standards are met
  • Maintains workflow by monitoring steps of the process; setting processing variables; observing control points and equipment; monitoring personnel and resources; studying methods; implementing cost reductions; developing reporting procedures and systems; facilitating corrections to malfunctions within process control points; initiating and fostering a spirit of collaboration within and between departments
  • Provides manufacturing information by compiling, initiating, sorting, and analyzing production performance records and data, answering questions, and responding to requests
  • Supports the creation and revision of systems and procedures by analyzing operating practices, record-keeping systems, forms of control, and personnel requirements, implementing change
  • Maintains safe and clean work environment by educating and directing personnel on the use of all control points, equipment, and resources, maintaining compliance with established policies and procedures supporting dormakaba’s safety culture and efforts through ergonomic process improvement
  • Resolves personnel problems by analyzing data; investigating issues; identifying solutions; working with Human Resources when needed; and recommending action
  • Identifies training and development needs to build long-term competencies and bench strength within department
  • Collaborates with HR & Production Manager to create & deliver performance appraisals/annual merit to all direct reports
  • Performs other duties as assigned by the Plant & Production Manager to support corporate goals

REQUIREMENTS

  • High School Degree/GED or equivalent required, Associates/Bachelor’s degree in relatable field preferred
  • 2-3 years Supervisory experience in a manufacturing setting
  • 2-3 years metal fabrication experience preferred
  • Must have the ability to communicate effectively via telephone, multiple forms of electronic mediums, and within a group environment for business presentations
  • Manual dexterity and mobility sufficient to use hand tools extensively, safely, and productively such as wrenches, hammers, small grinders, welding stingers and similar fabrication shop equipment
  • Ability to lift 40 lbs. repetitively during a shift
