Position Overview


As a Product Manager you’ll support the Primex team in a range of activities that strategically drives forward the OP roadmap. This includes the management, design and development of Fiber Wave Enclosures and Fiber Wave Connectivity products used to drive towards business objectives. To do this you’ll engage with stakeholders, perform market research, and quantify/validate new product ideas and requests. From there you’ll work with internal teams, suppliers, and customers to help make product ideas come to life while simultaneously balancing business constraints. Your efforts will have you working with old and new Primex OP enclosures, enclosure accessories and Fiber Solutions products that bring value to an OP marketplace.

Key Responsibilities

In this role, the Product Manager will work closely with the head of product and Application Engineering Counter parts forming a team of individuals who are application experts, giving first-hand customer perspective and experience in solution implementation. You understand all the features, the advantages of each product, how the product is commonly used, and how to troubleshoot common problems. These solutions include Outside Plant network designs and On-Premise connectivity solutions. The Product Manager will frequently collaborate with Primex Sales, Marketing, Engineering and Operations as well as with Primex customers. In this role, the Product Manager will work closely with the head of product and Application Engineering Counter parts forming a team of individuals who are application experts, giving first-hand customer perspective and experience in solution implementation. Duties


  • Researching and keeping up to speed with the latest Outside Plant (OSP) product knowledge & technologies and sharing that knowledge with Product Management and other Primex team members.
  • Helping to define and execute new product features and product enhancements.
  • Working closely with Engineering, Sales, and Marketing to bring new products and features to market; this includes helping our internal teams understand how products are used out in the field and communicating to sales and marking the benefits of new products and product features.
  • Driving the development of new product solutions – leveraging the capabilities of internal departments within Primex and external supplier relationships.
  • Coordinating and leading development of component parts with onshore and offshore vendors.
  • Working closely with Project Management to ensure products are delivered on schedule and in alignment with product requirements.
  • Facilitate in the Launch of products (alongside Marketing), educating our internal teams, and our customers on application and solution implementation.


Competencies, Education and Experience


  • You are the resident On-Premise/Outside Planet Telecommunications expert. You understand OSP design methodology and how these components are incorporated into application design and how they are used.
  • Knowledge and expertise in telecommunications with 5+ years relevant experience. Demonstrated by a solid understanding of the FTTx market, including fiber distribution practices for On-Premise / Outside Plant SFU, MDU and commercial applications through FTTx deployments.
  • Strong technical ability and 3+ years relevant product development and hands-on work experience with physically manufactured product(s).
  • You have 3+ years of Product Management experience with a demonstrated ability to balance the needs of the customer against operational goals while simultaneously driving towards business objectives.
  • You have an academic background in Mechanical/Electrical Engineering or equivalent. The completion of an MBA program would be considered an asset.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills along with excellent English verbal and written communication skills.
  • Effective in stakeholder management
  • Must be comfortable presenting to both internal and external stakeholders.
  • Ability to effectively work with cross-functional teams located in various geographical locations.
  • Intellectual curiosity, creativity and a passion for technology would be advantageous.
  • Familiarity with regulatory compliance – Telcordia, Bellcore and/or UL/CSA is an asset.
  • Previous Product Management experience is greatly considered as an asset.
  • Experience in a customer facing role is an asset.
  • An ability to travel within the US and Canada is needed.
  • The enrollment and completion of additional Product Management Training either from Pragmatic Institute, the 280 Group, Product Focus or equivalent is considered an asset.
