Position Description Summary
Job Title: Processing Technician Location: Elk River Department: Laboratory
Position Overview
- Support processing of lab samples in preparation of further testing. Inventory and retain lab samples according to designated retention policy.
Principle Accountabilities
Duty
- Processing of lab samples. Included but not limited to sorting, grinding, scanning, and weighing of lab samples.
- Daily retention management of laboratory samples. Tasks include but are not limited to storing, disposing, and relocating samples to maintain an accurate retention period for all samples.
- Participate in lab housekeeping program and complete tasks as assigned.
- Perform routine equipment performance and maintenance checks as indicated in procedural SOP’s.
- Proactive focus on workplace safety and shows initiative to work safely and follow policy.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office 365 and associated tools.
Position Criteria
Experience:
- At least two years of relevant experience Required
- Work effectively within a team, with strong communication skills Required
- The ability to multi-task and prioritize effectively Required
- The ability to work flexible hours including occasional Saturday’s Required
- The ability to stand for extended periods of time and wear a respirator while grinding samples Required
Education:
- High School Diploma Required
Miscellaneous Position Notes:
- Leather shoes are required for laboratory work.
- It is the contractor’s responsibility to have adequate footwear prior to work start date.
- Contact lenses are not allowed in the laboratory.
- Various ingredient samples that may contain potential allergens are handled routinely in this facility.
- Including but not limited to milk, peanuts, eggs, tree nuts, soy, gluten, fish, and shellfish.
- A clean shave will be required for tasks requiring respirator use
- The Laboratory Technician will complete routine sample preparation for further testing in support of the lab quality testing and operational teams.
- We are looking for a hardworking person who will perform routine preparation of samples, being responsible for checking and monitoring equipment performance and maintain lab sample inventory in accordance with policy.
- Occasionally run calibration checks, preventive maintenance tasks, and simple repair to equipment.
- Interpret and document results of tests into active databases and communicate results to internal customers as required.
- Ensure compliance programs for all individual testing, which includes monitoring adherence to regulations and other procedural safety compliance.
- Conduct routine quantitative and qualitative inspections and laboratory tests on raw materials, in-process and final products independently.
- Handle clerical, administrative and some technical tasks under general supervision, while escalating more complex issues to appropriate staff.
- Ability to read and interpret documents (safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals).
Job Type: Contract
Pay: $18.00 - $19.00 per hour
