Prior Authorization Specialist Job at Pima Heart Physicians

Duties and Responsibilities:
Prioritize work assignment, ensure on-time completion of tasks and projects and provide timely updates to the Prior Authorization supervisor.
Obtaining pre-authorization by phone or website for any office/outpatient/inpatient procedures and other tests referred to facilities like Radiology Ltd.
Communicating with clinical staff regarding approvals/denials/peer-to-peer reviews.
Receive STAT authorization phone calls from clinical staff one week/month.
Run reports to monitor add-on procedures in the office and obtain authorizations as necessary.
Maintain up-to-date procedure manual including web sites and contacts for payers.
Document all communication in computer system.
Safeguard the privacy of patient health information
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Knowledge of medical insurance and third party reimbursement procedures and practices.
Knowledge of medical terminology and procedures with strong medical spelling skills.
Knowledge of CPT and ICD-9 coding skills.
Ability to plan, prioritize and organize workload under strict deadlines.
Ability to work independently and as a team member to continually assess and improve the prior authorization process throughout the team and the clinical staff.
Excellent computer/keyboarding skills, with attention to details.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $16.98 - $20.00 per hour
