Job Title: Mimaki Printer Manager

Job Summary: As a Mimaki Printer Manager, you will be responsible for overseeing the operation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of Mimaki printers within our organization. Your primary goal will be to ensure the efficient and effective functioning of the printers, meeting production targets, and delivering high-quality printed materials. You will collaborate closely with the production team, graphic designers, and other stakeholders to fulfill printing requirements while adhering to established quality standards and deadlines.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Printer Operation and Maintenance:
  • Set up, configure, and operate Mimaki printers to ensure optimal performance and print quality.
  • Conduct regular maintenance and calibration of printers, including cleaning, nozzle checks, and firmware updates.
  • Monitor printer performance, identify issues, and troubleshoot problems to minimize downtime and maximize productivity.
  • Ensure all printers are adequately supplied with inks, media, and other consumables.
  • Print Quality Control:
  • Maintain a high level of print quality by monitoring color accuracy, sharpness, and overall print appearance.
  • Perform color management tasks, including color calibration, profiling, and matching, to ensure consistent and accurate results.
  • Conduct thorough quality checks on printed materials to identify and address any defects or imperfections.
  • Collaborate with the graphic design team to optimize artwork for printing and recommend improvements for better print results.
  • Production Coordination:
  • Coordinate with the production team to prioritize and schedule printing jobs based on deadlines and customer requirements.
  • Ensure all printing projects are completed within specified timeframes and meet the required quality standards.
  • Manage multiple print queues, track job progress, and maintain accurate records of completed tasks.
  • Optimize print settings and production workflows to improve efficiency and minimize waste.
  • Inventory Management:
  • Monitor and manage inventory levels of inks, media, and other printing supplies, ensuring an adequate stock is maintained.
  • Place timely orders for printing consumables to prevent any production disruptions due to supply shortages.
  • Collaborate with procurement and vendor management teams to source and evaluate suppliers for printing materials.

Qualifications and Requirements:

  • High school diploma or equivalent; additional technical certifications or relevant training is a plus.
  • Proven experience in operating and maintaining Mimaki printers or similar large-format printers.
  • Solid understanding of color management principles, print production processes, and RIP software.
  • Proficiency in troubleshooting printer issues, performing routine maintenance, and optimizing printer settings.
  • Familiarity with graphic design software (e.g., Adobe Creative Suite) and file formats commonly used in printing (PDF, EPS, TIFF).
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to perform precise color matching and quality control checks.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills to handle multiple printing projects simultaneously.
  • Effective communication and collaboration abilities to work with cross-functional teams and external vendors.
  • Knowledge of health and safety practices related to printing operations.
  • Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced production environment.
