Purpose:

The Preventative Maintenance (PM) Service Technician performs preventative maintenance services and minor repairs on equipment and travels to customer worksites to provide services.

Responsibilities:

  • Safely drive truck and/or equipment in and out of repair area.
  • Perform all preventative maintenance services and minor repairs assignments in a safe, efficient and competent manner, using the least number of labor hours necessary in accordance with JESCO-approved quality and efficiency standards.
  • Responsible for the timely completion of assigned preventive maintenance and service repairs on equipment.
  • Review service orders and inspect equipment for additional repairs or malfunctions by test driving or visual inspection, utilizing the preventative maintenance machine inspection form.
  • Safely utilize all tools and equipment, including but not limited to: “creeper”, pressure washers, torque wrenches, hydraulic jacks, computer pressure gauges, welding equipment, pneumatic and hand tools, and diagnostic equipment.
  • Complete service orders and warranty reports in accordance with JESCO-approved quality and efficiency standards including but not limited to machine information, failure complaint, cause and correction, time and date, oil and supplies used, and mileage.
  • Return unused parts from field calls to the parts department promptly and in proper condition for resale.
  • Discard residual or hazardous waste, using proper disposal methods.
  • Invest in tools necessary to perform at expected levels and quality.
  • Continually upgrade technical competence by attending all classes and shop meetings, and read all pertinent service bulletins.
  • Complete equipment inspections in accordance with Company and government standards.
  • Use the Company’s tag system when finished with repairs.
  • Respect and maintain Company investment in tools and work area by keeping Company assets clean and orderly.
  • Follow all company and customer/worksite safety policies and wears required PPE.
  • Comply with all safety policies, and have the ability to lift and move up to 50 lbs.
  • Keep assigned service vehicle clean and professional-looking both inside and out.
  • Notify supervisor of any necessary maintenance and service to the assigned service vehicle, including all onboard equipment
  • Ensure that all onboard equipment within assigned vehicle is both safe and fully operational.
  • Keep phone and GPS communication on and in working order at all times.
  • Retain, tag and store removed parts properly for return to manufacturer.
  • Observe all speed limits, traffic laws and safety policies while operating company vehicles.
  • Maintain accurate logs as required for driving; fuel tax, mileage, per truck class; accurately, neatly, and completely.
  • Perform daily pre-trip safety check and preventative maintenance on service vehicle, clean cab, and wash vehicle.
  • Exhibit a professional manner when representing the Company
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Successfully complete pre-employment DOT physical and drug screen, as well as maintain approved DOT CDL physical status.
  • Safely lift and move up to 50 lbs as well as push and pull up to 50 lbs of resistance.
  • Safely walk on uneven jobsite terrain and climb on construction equipment, elevated platforms, ladders, etc.

Qualifications

  • Valid driver’s license.
  • Possess tools of the trade.
  • Ability to operate equipment in order to ensure thoroughness and completion of preventative maintenance.
  • 2+ years of experience in the heavy equipment field as a service technician or mechanic is desired, troubleshooting and diagnosing heavy equipment issues on a variety of construction equipment.
  • Must have knowledge of application, operation and function of engine, hydraulic and electric systems.
  • Ability to use laptop computer, tablet, and software applications.
  • Ability to work flexible hours as well as work in various demanding environmental conditions.
  • Valid work authorization and be able to work in the U.S. without company sponsorship
