POSITION SUMMARY:
This position supports the work of the Y, a leading nonprofit, charitable organization committed to strengthening community through youth development, healthy living and social responsibility. A Lead Infant/Toddler Teacher at the Goldsboro Family YMCA provides a quality experience to children and parents that focuses on the YMCA values: honesty, respect, responsibility, and caring. The essential functions will be carried out in keeping with the Goals and Mission of the Goldsboro YMCA, intentionally fostering a cause-centered culture that is welcoming, genuine, hopeful, nurturing, and determined.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Implement curriculum within established guidelines.
  • Design and implement daily lesson/activity plans.
  • Supervises the children, classroom, and all activities.
  • Make ongoing, systemic observations and evaluations of each child.
  • Conduct parent conferences and maintains positive relationships and effective communication with parents.
  • Engage parents as volunteers.
  • Maintain program site and equipment.
  • Maintain required program records.
  • Attend and participate in family nights, program activities, staff meetings, and staff training.
  • Maintain classrooms by cleaning and organizing daily, removing trash, keeping bathrooms clean throughout the day, keeping sanitizing solutions full at all times.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:
A Lead Preschool Teacher Level 1 must be at least 18 years old, have a high school diploma or its equivalent, and must have completed the North Carolina Early Childhood Credential or its equivalent as determined by the Division of Child Development. A Lead Teacher also must possess:

  • SIDS certification
  • CPR, First Aid, and AED certifications and Child Abuse Prevention training within 30 days of hire date
  • Pass a DMV background check
  • Previous experience working with children in a developmental setting
  • Ability to plan, organize, and implement age-appropriate/developmentally appropriate program activities
  • Previous experience with diverse populations. Ability to develop positive, authentic relationships with people from different backgrounds.

  • Must be able to stand for long periods of time
  • Must be able to lift and carry items (up to 30 lbs)
  • Must be able to quickly access various locations around the childcare center and playground area
  • Must be able to communicate verbally with good voice projection
  • Must have proof of negative TB test and complete physical examination

Pay: $12.00 - $16.00 per hour
