Position Summary Information

Minimum Qualifications
  • Credentialed veterinary technician who graduated from an AVMA CVTEA accredited program OR Doctor of Veterinary Medicine.
  • Master’s degree or higher in an area relevant to the study of veterinary medicine OR 18 hours of graduate level coursework in a field related to veterinary medicine and/or business and management; a Bachelor’s degree plus commensurate experience will be considered as per SACSCOC requirements.
  • Current license, certification, or other designation as required by local, state, or federal laws to work in the veterinary field; ability to become licensed in North Carolina.
  • Experience with curriculum development and teaching veterinary medical professionals.
  • Excellent interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills.
  • Demonstrated experience and competency in Veterinary Practice Management.
  • At least five (5) years of occupational (i.e. practical) experience within the veterinary field.
  • Relevant practical experience and/or educational background for course(s) taught.

License/Certification Required
  • Applicant must be a credentialed veterinary technician who graduated from an AVMA CVTEA -accredited program OR Doctor of Veterinary Medicine.
  • Must possess or be able to obtain NC license.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Certified Veterinary Practice Manager (CVPM) Certification and/or advanced coursework or degree(s) in business and/or management related courses.
  • Experience teaching in an online environment and in group facilitation.
  • Extensive experience in veterinary clinical practice settings.
  • Extensive network in the veterinary medical field.
  • Experience providing continuing education (CE) in the area of veterinary practice management to veterinary medical professionals.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
The Practice Management Coordinator, Veterinary Technology Program will assist the Veterinary Technology leadership team with essential duties and responsibilities as outlined:
  • Develop and teach Veterinary Practice Management courses within the Veterinary Technology Program working as a member of a departmental team, to educate and support students who will possess the knowledge and skills necessary to pass the Veterinary Technician National Exam (VTNE) and to thrive in the veterinary medical profession.
  • Work collaboratively with the Veterinary Technology leadership team to develop, implement, and evaluate the Practice Management Track and Veterinary Practice Management courses within the four-year program.
  • Develop a stand-alone Veterinary Practice Management certificate program for actively practicing credentialed veterinary technicians and other veterinary medical professionals.
  • Active knowledge and experience with the Certified Veterinary Practice Manager (CVPM) certification program through the Veterinary Hospital Managers Association (VHMA) as well as significant experience and background in business and veterinary practice management.
  • Develop and coordinate curriculum development activities, complete assessment of learning outcomes, and ensure compliance with the American Veterinary Medical Association Committee for Veterinary Technician Education and Activities (AVMA CVTEA) accreditation standards.
  • Plan and instruct in a manner consistent with current veterinary practice standards and effective online teaching methodologies.
  • Understands, and is able to convey the defined roles and specific relationships of all of the members of the veterinary healthcare team.
