About the Opportunity

The Bowdridge Laboratory within the Department of Physiology, Pharmacology and Toxicology in the West Virginia University School of Medicine is seeking applications for a Postdoctoral Fellow. Current research in the Dr. Bowdridge Lab is focused on the understanding the endocrinological, molecular, and physiological mechanisms underlying placental and fetal health dysfunction after toxic environmental inhalation exposures (xenobiotic particles and vapors).This position is responsible for working on a project elucidating the role of occupation exposures during gestation on reproductive outcomes across generations and how these insults are mediated by disruptions in endocrine and reactive oxygen species signaling.

What you’ll do:

The successful candidate will be required to perform experimental work and data analysis, oversee/direct, and assist undergraduate and graduate researchers in the completion of experiments. Ability to work with rats and mice, including handling, breeding, and dosing and molecular biology skills and competency are required.

Qualifications
  • PhD in reproductive physiology, toxicology, cell and molecular biology, developmental biology, or a relevant biomedical field is required.
  • One (1) year of hands-on experience in animal models of maternal gestational toxicant exposures and/or cell culture techniques is required. This experience is typically acquired through the course of doctoral training.
  • Ability to work with rats and mice, including handling, breeding, and dosing
  • Molecular biology skills and competency are required.
