Canady's is looking for a hard-working, dependable Plumber Helper/Apprentice to support our licensed plumber. In this role, you will assist our lead plumber as needed. You may ensure that the proper tools are available for repairs, cut copper and PVC pipe according to blueprints, and drill holes for pipe installation. Our ideal candidate has manual dexterity, a strong familiarity with basic hand tools and power tools, and a willingness to take direction from a licensed plumber.

Canady's has an opening for a Plumbing Helper that may be selected to move into our Apprentice Program for additional training. Richmond Hill GA - CANADY'S Branch Location.

This is an entry-level position in a great industry with a leading company.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

The Apprentice Plumbers assists in the assembly, installation, and repair of plumbing, water flow, and drainage systems in accordance with city, state, and federal plumbing codes. This may include everything from outside digging to assistance with the installation of new hardware for faucets, showers, and toilets to assisting plumbing technicians with a wide variety of plumbing tasks.

Assist Plumbers in installing and maintaining plumbing systems as well as assisting the technician in picking up parts, carrying necessary equipment on site, and duties requested to assist in the completion of jobs and development of skills.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Above average math skills
  • Manual dexterity
  • Ability to use the tools of the plumbing trade; plumbing snakes, augers, drills, saws, and general carpentry hand tools such as hammers, measuring tape, levels, and screwdrivers.
  • Ability to take and follow precise directions from their supervisors.
  • Ability to demonstrate active listening skills and communicate effectively to facilitate a positive and productive working partnership.

WORKING CONDITIONS/PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

  • Ability to work outdoors year-round in the elements/weather
  • Lifting, transporting, adjusting heavy objects and equipment 75 – 100 pounds
  • Bend, twist, climb, squat, reach; work in confined spaces; climb ladders.
  • Exposure to smells associated with Sewer and Water; exposures to sounds associated with power tools; may come in contact with sharp, hot / cold supplies or equipment.
  • Ability to stand up and sit down for extended periods of time.
  • Observe and comply with all relevant health & safety regulations and associated policy & procedures.

EXPERIENCE/EDUCATION:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required
  • PLUMBING : 1 year (preferred)
  • Two (2) years of plumbing experience preferred in performing tasks associated with water, waste plumbing and fixtures in a residential application.
  • Reliable transportation required
  • Driver's License required
  • Trade School and/or Apprentice License for local jurisdiction
