Primary Purpose of the Position

The Plant Supervisor reports to the Plant Manager and the Chief Operating Officer (COO) and is responsible for the safety, quality, and on-time productions at or above budgeted margins for the 2nd shift.

Essential Functions / Duties

  • Supervises staff to produce manufactured products and organizes and monitor workflow.
  • Communicates, trains, guides and coaches' staff to optimize team efforts in manufacturing of high-quality products.
  • Completes production plan by scheduling and assigning personnel, accomplishing work results, establishing priorities, monitoring progress, revising schedules, resolving problems and reporting results of the processing flow on shift production summaries.
  • Maintains quality service by establishing and enforcing production standards.
  • Ensures operation of equipment by calling for repairs and evaluating new equipment and implementing change.
  • Maintain safe and clean work environment by educating and directing personnel on the use of all control points, equipment, resources, and maintaining compliance with established policies and procedures.

Job Requirements

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Strong background in Welding and metal fabrication, AWS CWI certification a plus.
  • Experience with Heavy Structures fabrication and welding. 100 to 500 Tons.
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • 10 years minimum relevant work experience in a manufacturing environment
  • Prior supervisor experience
  • Excellent oral communication skills
  • Strong team building, decision-making and people management skills.
  • Ability to give guidance and direction in an effective and appropriate manner.
  • Ability to set direction, make decisions and oversee departments with little to no direct supervision.
  • Ability to deliver business results both independently and through others.

Working Conditions

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts, high or precarious places, fumes or airborne particles, outside weather conditions, extreme heat or cold, wet and/or humid conditions, toxic or caustic chemicals, and risk of electrical shock and vibration. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.

Physical Requirements

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, sit, use hands to handle or feel, reach with hands and arms, and talk and hear. The employee is occasionally required to climb or balance, stoop, kneel, bend, crouch or crawl, and smell. The employee may occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
