Position Summary

Ready Mixed Concrete is looking for a highly motivated individual to be responsible for general labor support of the plant, support batching activities and the assure the yard area of the concrete plant is maintained.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

Abide by Company Safety Program and Policies, while performing duties safely.

Performs daily cleaning and maintenance of the plant and grounds areas by sweeping, shoveling and removing aggregate from the area in a wheel barrow, loader or skid loader to maintain a clean and safe environment.

Ensures safe and efficient operation of the plant through maintenance, inspection and repair of the equipment and operating conditions of the concrete plant.

Operates a front end loader, skid loader or fork lift according to requirements of the current need.

Load aggregates into trucks and bins. Assure appropriate amount according to order requirements.

Unload rail cars and silos by use of high volume air machines, hooking and unhooking hose according to daily needs.

Work with appropriate personnel to identify and plan daily operations.

Daily pre-trip/shift inspection on equipment. Grease, change oil, change tires and perform other maintenance as required.

Pour leftover concrete into forms. When concrete is dry, break latches and move block to designated areas.

Other duties may be assigned.

Position Requirements and Education

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED) preferred.
  • Previous experience in a construction &/or construction products related field is desired.
  • Three to six months related mechanic experience and/or training.
  • Previous experience operating construction machinery or equipment-forklift, pallet loaders, lift truck and a front end loader is preferred.
  • Ability to read and comprehend load tickets, SDS sheets and the company safety manual.
  • Forklift and Loader certification preferred. If not, must be capable to completing requirements of the program and passing the test in a reasonable period of time.
  • Must be able to work late or irregular hours.

Working Conditions

The employee is regularly required to stand; walk; use hands and fingers to handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms.

Would regularly climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; able to talk, hear, and smell.

Must be able to use up to 35 pounds of force occasionally.

Direct frontal reaching is required while the employee may be required to lift 25 pounds over the head occasionally, must also be able to lift up to 50 pounds to waist height.

Must be able to climb to heights of 125 feet.

Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.

Employees are required to wear protective safety gear and eye protection.

Must be able to comply with confined space requirements.
