Utz Quality Foods is currently seeking a Plant Coordinator to work out of our Kings Mountain, NC facility. The Plant Coordinator is responsible for assisting the Plant Manager with the execution of multiple tasks as required and assigned that enhance and support daily production and company initiatives. This position is responsible for overseeing production tasks and training completion and reports progress to the Plant Manager. The Plant Coordinator supports all production and operation functions providing administrative support to the entire production team.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop daily schedules for next-day manufacturing for all production lines and reviews priorities with supervisors and team.
  • Drive continuous improvement through the use of six sigma lean manufacturing, and 5S tools in conjunction with the Site CI coordinator.
  • Act as Site Level Administrator for Manufacturing Production System (Redzone).
  • Develop and maintain current SOPs, training agendas, and work instructions.
  • Lead and collaborate with the team regarding all actions for production runs, including raw materials, packaging materials, special requests, scheduling, and attending all production activities including first runs.
  • Review inventories daily and assist in adjusting daily production schedules to meet inventory requirements working with warehouse and production teams.
  • Lead the site's safety program in conjunction with Safety Coordinator with responsibility for coordinating monthly safety meetings and walks, as well as, ensuring all safety documentation is in compliance.
  • Manage all sample requests (formal and informal) and coordinate with Sales, Technical Services, and manufacturing counterparts on all sample requests and coordinates sample deliveries as needed.
  • Drive teamwork, collaboration, and positive communication throughout the team.
  • Assist the functional areas by utilizing excellent process knowledge and strong administrative/computer skills.
  • Responsible for assisting the QA department in ensuring quality and food safety programs and procedures.
  • Other assigned tasks as needed to achieve business results.

Requirements:

Ideal candidates will have 3-5 years of experience in production supervision and/or process engineering roles with the ability to provide technical support and working knowledge of manufacturing processes. Candidates must be proficient in Microsoft Office, WORD, and EXEL and have exceptional communication and problem-solving skills. Knowledge of RedZone systems is a plus. This is a deadline-driven environment; therefore, time management and organizational skills are essential.

  • Must exemplify strong communication skills, both verbal and written, proficiency in Microsoft Office, time management, and organizational skills.
  • As the Plant Project Coordinator, this individualmust be a self-starter with superb initiative and the ability to work well independently and as an active team member.
  • Must possess or have the aptitude and ability to quickly develop an in-depth working knowledge of applicablecompany procedures.
  • Ability to assume responsibility and exercise good judgment in making decisions within the scope of authority of the position.
  • Ability to think and work effectively under pressure and accurately complete tasks within established times.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks, meet deadlines, and organize work effectively.
  • Food manufacturing, GMPs, and HACCP preferred, but not required.
