We’re looking for an amazing Planner I to fill this role. You’ll be responsible for developing and implementing efficient and cost-effective crew rotation schedules for the disciplines assigned to ensure a full complement and establishment of qualified and competent crew are maintained. The Planner will provide support primarily for the Planning team. This role will typically be challenged with competing priorities and projects. Position has the authority to make decisions on scheduling plans.

Responsibilities

  • Acts as a point of contact for shipboard and shoreside management for areas under the disciplines assigned.
  • Effectively develops and maintains cost effective and progressive shipboard schedules for the crew under the disciplines assigned for a rolling 6-month period.
  • Accounts for shortages and prepares contingency plans ensuring replacements are arranged to avoid extended periods of shortfall and ensure complete and safe manning of the vessels.
  • Analyzes establishment figures and makes appropriate recommendations relating to planning and promotion needs.
  • Collaborates with shipboard management and operational departments to identify staffing issues and develop planning solutions.
  • Engages external talent partners to facilitate onboarding and readiness of crew for schedules arranged.
  • Resolves escalated issues from shipboard management, shore side management and external talent partners.
  • Ensures proper and timely communication is always maintained with shipboard management, shore side management and external talent partners.
  • Consistently delivers on commitments in line with company core values.
  • Monitor daily and weekly reporting tools to ensure data integrity.
  • Any special projects or duties as assigned by the manager.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent in years of work experience preferred.
  • Minimum Experience (if preferred but not required, list as such):
  • 1-year experience in travel industry preferred but not required.
  • Minimum Qualifications (if preferred but not required, list as such):
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (verbal and written) for negotiating, responding and resolving complex, sensitive and confidential issues.
  • Ability to analyze, negotiate, respond and resolve complex, sensitive and confidential issues and communicate clearly (verbally and written) will all levels of employees, management and customers.
  • Proficient in the use of computer business applications with working knowledge of word processing, spreadsheets and database applications.
  • Well-developed planning and organizational skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to successfully manage competing priorities, to meet frequent deadlines and to work with sensitive and confidential information.
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States. Holland America is unable to sponsor or take over sponsorship of employment visas at this time (e.g., H-1B status).

  • Base Salary Range: $42,200.00 to $57,000.00. The range is applicable for the labor market where the role is intended to be hired. Final base salary is directly related to each candidates' qualifications and experience uniquely.
