Maine Public Employees Retirement System (MainePERS) seeks a Plan Administration Associate to join our Member Services team. The work is focused on performing duties related to the Defined Benefit and Defined Contribution Programs, assisting employees and employers by responding to inquiries, including determining eligibility for participation and distributions, and by interpreting provisions under each of the plan documents.

The position serves as a knowledgeable resource on the plans for staff, members and employers and is responsible for maintaining routine daily operations in the absence of the Plan Administrators. This position is responsible for scheduling employer and member meetings for the Plan Administrators and ensuring information packets/handouts/equipment are prepared and ready in advance of the meetings.

The Plan Administration Associate routinely collects data and prepares documentation necessary to provide current and prospective PLD employers with information relevant to participating in, withdrawing from, or upgrading a service retirement plan. The Plan Administration Associate ensures all necessary paperwork for joining, rejoining, making plan changes or withdrawing from participation from the plan(s) is received and documented to employer records in a timely manner.

The Plan Administration Associate represents MainePERS at the request of the Plan Administrator at benefit fairs and conferences. Performs all essential functions of the position timely and accurately, using system software and other work processing tools.

Minimum qualifications:

  • High school graduate plus four (4) years of responsible, self-directed work experience that demonstrates excellent customer service, research and analysis, computational, computer skills and the ability to work under limited supervision..
  • Ability to travel throughout the state; valid driver’s license and maintenance of a good driving record.

OR - Post-secondary degree and two (2) years related work experience.
