Physical Therapist Assistant- Full Time (Monday-Friday OR Tuesday-Sat)

Summary:

Provides physical therapy treatment to patients according to the established treatment plan under the supervision of the Physical Therapist. Contributes to the development, implementation of, and progression of patient treatment and modifies treatment as necessary. Participates in patient care conferences and program development. Completes appropriate documentation and adheres to policies, procedures and current standards of clinical practice.

Principle Responsibilities

  • Provides physical therapy treatments consistent with the professional and ethical standards of the A.P.T.A. for the Physical Therapist Assistant.
  • Legible documents treatments given and weekly summaries in patient medical record.
  • Coordinates with other disciplines for effective total patient care.
  • Assures delivery of quality care.
  • Participates in the discharge planning process to ensure continued patient care as needed and provide patient and family instruction.
  • Maintains the clinical expertise of the PTA through continuing education.
  • Contributes to a team philosophy within the department and the company and promotes the same among staff.
  • Delegates work assignments, responsibilities, and patients to support staff as needed.
  • Supervises students and volunteers.
  • Represents the Physical Therapy Department to family, visitors, and personnel and attends care conferences as requested.
  • Effectively communicates with department staff, company personnel, patients and families and department head.
  • Secures equipment for patients and department supplies as needed.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
  • May rotate to other facilities to meet productivity/patient care and other duties as assigned.

Qualifications Education and Accreditation

  • Successful completion of an accredited Physical Therapy Assistant program
  • Licensure as required by the State of Michigan
  • Member of APTA
  • PHYSICAL THERAPIST ASSISTANT Reports to Director of Therapy (DOT)

  • Physical Ability to bend, position, transfer and lift patients weighing from 80 pounds to over 300 pounds, without restriction, utilizing lifting devices clinically recommended for the patient.

Working Conditions:

  • Exposed to patient care, and office environments.
  • May require travel to other sites providing own reliable transportation.
