Position Purpose: The Pharmacy Technician may perform duties in one or more of the following areas: Formulary Management, Pharmacy Audit and Recovery, Pharmacy Service Center or Prior Authorization, Medicare Part D Operations and State Health Programs Pharmacy Operations. Using established company guidelines, the Pharmacy Technician reviews requests made by physicians, medical groups, pharmacies and members for the use of prescription drugs and pharmacy benefits. The technician researches and resolves questions, problems or issues. May consult with Clinical Pharmacists or Regional Medical Director on related issues.

  • Prepare, count, label, and package pharmaceuticals for Pharmacist approval
  • Interact with various departments to provide accurately dispensed prescriptions on a timely basis
  • Accurately calibrate equipment and document calibration according to policy
  • Assist with the maintenance of pharmacy temperature and cleaning logs and documents maintenance
  • Complete compounding records and other pharmacy records as indicated
  • Verify completed compounding records against the system record
• Perform and record various quality control activities including air sampling, bacterial counts, and steri •testing under the supervision of a pharmacist. All results should be disclosed to the pharmacy supervisor immediately for review.
  • Ensure the clean room suites and related equipment are cleaned and maintained according to organizational policy and procedure
  • Maintain prescription logs
  • Comply with safety, quality assurance, accreditation, legal, state, and federal regulatory requirements

Education/Experience: High School diploma or GED required. 1 year Pharmacy Technician experience. Customer Service/retail experience preferred

License/Certification: Valid Pharmacy Technician License preferred.
