The Boston Ability Center is a pediatric outpatient rehabilitation center that provides physical, occupational, speech-language, and feeding therapy to children ages 0-18 along with our therapy dog, Stanley, in a setting that is full of fun and adventure! Our goal is to lead the field of pediatric outpatient rehab with outstanding, evidence-based care while creating a supportive community for children and families.

The Boston Ability Center has two locations (Natick and Wellesley). Staff divide their time between locations depending on the clinic's needs.

Position Title: Pediatric Physical Therapist - Per Diem

Position Summary: We are looking to hire a Per Diem, Physical Therapist to work Saturday's from 8:00 AM to 2:30 PM. You will work with children from birth to 21 with a variety of diagnoses including neuromuscular, neurological, orthopedic, developmental, genetic, and sensory processing. We focus on improving children’s functional mobility, independence in daily life, ability to participate with peers, and engage in the community around them. You can expect to work closely with OT, SLP, and clinic aide staff. The current open position requires Saturday availability.

In addition to Center based care, The Boston Ability Center provides assessment, treatment and consultation services for a number of area independent schools and child development centers.

Responsible for:

·Obtaining and maintaining MA state licensure to practice physical therapy

·Maintain an up to date CPR certification

·The PT is responsible for effectively evaluating and treating patients with a variety of neurological, orthopedic and developmental diagnoses. The PT is responsible for their own understanding and knowledge of best practices within the field of physical therapy. This will include independent study as needed when treating unfamiliar diagnoses or symptoms.

·The PT will effectively and regularly communicate with their immediate supervisor and clinic director around clinical care for each patient in their caseload during the first 3 months of employment and for select kids thereafter. The PT’s clinical supervisor and director will offer regular support around clinical questions and developing expertise.

·As a part of delivering outstanding care, the PT will communicate effectively and efficiently with patients’ parents, caregivers, and other providers, via in person conversation, email or telephone, and in adherence with patient privacy laws and BAC policies.

·The PT will regularly provide an HEP; activities for parents and caregivers to carry over at home in order to facilitate patient progress towards meeting stated goals.

·The PT position requires the physical ability to stand, sit at desks, sit on the floor, change positions frequently and be able to independently lift 30 lbs.

·The PT will demonstrate knowledge of assessment tools used regularly in this setting.

·The PT will clearly and efficiently document both evaluation and treatment notes using the Therabill EMR system.

·The clinician will maintain up to date billing practices in accordance with recommendations from medical billing staff.

·The clinician will learn and be competent in basic cleaning and maintenance tasks including but not limited to, trash removal, replacing toilet paper and paper towels in appropriate dispensers, laundry, equipment and toy sanitization, replacing hand sanitizer in wall units, replacing paper in copier, use of photocopier, scanner and printers, operating thermostats and other closing procedures.

·The clinician will assist in efforts to organize and clean common areas during clinical down times identified by scheduler and/or supervisors.

·When using common treatment space, the clinician will return equipment, games and all other materials to its proper place with all pieces intact.

·All clinicians are encouraged to seek out expertise in their field through continuing education courses and the BAC supports the efforts of clinicians to be leaders in their field of practice.

Minimum Requirements:

·Bachelor’s Degree in Physical Therapy

·Pediatric experience

·CPR Certified

Pay: From $50.00 per hour

All staff are asked to wear masks. Masks are currently optional for patients and families. We have air purifiers in every room and extra cleaning protocols in place. Staff are asked to be up to date with their COVID and Flu vaccinations if medically able.
