Position Overview: ***This is not a REMOTE position***

The Payroll Specialist is responsible for accurately and confidentially preparing payroll checks, vacation checks and benefit deductions for employees.

Responsibilities:

  • Perform various duties in connection with payroll preparation.
  • Investigate and adjust reported pay irregularities.
  • Prepare appropriate federal, state, and local forms as required.
  • Prepare special reports for tax and social security requirements and insurance purposes.
  • Post payroll to Ledger.
  • Prepare multi-state child support and tax garnishment withholdings
  • Assist with 401k deposits and company match.
  • Knowledge of company benefits and proper deductions.
  • Filing of necessary documents.
  • Distribute and mail paycheck stubs that are requested.
  • Confidentially maintain all personnel files, changes of status and payroll records.
  • Assist Payroll Manager as needed.
  • Perform additional related duties and assignments as directed by Management

Required Skills:

  • Associated degree and/or at least 2 years of relevant experience
  • Must be able to manage multiple concurrent tasks in a dynamic environment
  • Highly detail-oriented, organized, able to meet deadlines and a team player
  • Ability to handle sensitive information with strict confidentiality
  • General office experience – especially Microsoft Excel and exceptional mathematical skills
  • Knowledge of multi-state payroll, garnishments, and benefits distribution
  • Knowledge of HR/Payroll system functions required; ADP experience preferred

Environment and Physical Requirements:

The majority of the work week will be in office. Duties to include administrative functions using the phone,

computer and communicating with people. This job will require occasional lifting of up to 30 pounds. Must be

able to sit a minimum of 8 hours per day, perform keyboard operations a minimum of 6 hours per day, and

must be able to stand and climb stairs as required.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $22.00 - $25.00 per hour
