Potters Industries is seeking to hire an HR Generalist reporting to the HR Director at our Corporate Office. This position will have primary responsibility for processing payroll for approximately 400 US employees using the ADP Workforce Now platform and will be accountable for the accuracy and integrity of data in the ADP HR/Payroll system including time and attendance data, payroll data and basic employee data. This position will serve as the subject matter expert on the . Will also be cross-trained in benefits/compensation in order to back-up HR Generalist – benefits/compensation

KEY RESULT AREAS:

  • Process weekly, semi-monthly and monthly payrolls in the US.
  • Handle all post-payroll activities to include providing funding information to Treasury, export & upload GL files to SAP, prepare union dues payment requests, export & upload 401k files
  • Process garnishments, correspond with courts and coordinate with payment service partners.
  • Process off-cycle and manual checks, stop payments and adjustments to payroll.
  • Generate reports for distribution to government agencies, internal departments such as Finance and/or vendors (401k vendor, benefits administration vendor, etc)
  • Reconcile payroll prior to transmission and validate confirmed reports.
  • Manage change request workflow to ensure all employee requests, manager requests (i.e. new hires, transfers/promotions, pay changes, terminations), and payroll transactions (i.e. bonus payments) are processed accurately and timely.
  • Monitor compliance with internal payroll policies and process guidelines, and escalating issues as needed.
  • Work with ADP to set up new tax jurisdictions, update tax rates, etc as need.
  • Provide payroll reports and data to auditors as needed
  • Write custom reports in ADP and outside of ADP using Access and Excel as needed
  • Respond to employment verifications and unemployment claims inquiries

EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE

· Bachelor's Degree in related field is preferred.

· Working knowledge of payroll best practices.

· Minimum 5 years’ experience running payrolls using ADP Workforce Now (at least 2 years processing multi-state payroll)

· Experience writing custom ADP reports required

· Strong Microsoft Excel and Access skills highly desirable

· Experience processing payroll in union and manufacturing environment highly desirable

· Experience processing payroll in jurisdictions with local tax withholding preferred.

· Some knowledge of Canadian payroll would be a plus

Excellent attention to detail & problem solving skills

  • Knowledge of government regulations as they apply to compensation base and incentive compensation programs, company policies, and operations.

· Ability to deal with sensitive information.

TRAVEL REQUIRED:

· Up to 10% travel, in support of corporate initiatives.
