We have are hiring for our Patient Service Representatives in our Santa Ana El Sol Clinic.

This position is full time Monday - Friday.

Qualified candidates must be bilingual in English and Spanish and have some front desk/customer service experience in a healthcare setting. The right candidate will be friendly, bubbly, punctual and most importantly, a team player!

JOB SUMMARY:

The Patient Service Representative (PSR) position is the ambassador of the patient greeting and ensures a positive, welcoming SOS Experience. The PSR is assigned to the front desk duties and data entry for patients checking in to include collection of patient fee’s. This position assists patients with customer service, clinic visit inquiries and works to resolve patient issues while escalating to leadership when necessary. The PSR sets appointments for multiple patient service lines and answers questions as related. The PSR completes outbound calls for appointment reminders and/or re-scheduling appointments, checks patient messages and returns call/replies timely.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Welcomes patients and visitors with a positive professional greeting ensuring they have a warm welcome and know that you are there to help.
  • Effectively manage the patient check-in process from start to finish to include identification verification, update or confirm demographics and insurance information, and ensure appropriate patient and/or compliance forms are provided and completed accurately.
  • Collects and maintains patient registration and utilization data for reporting.
  • Ensure patient information is entered into the Electronic Health Record system accurately and in a timely manner.
  • Ensures proactive approach to customer service by answering patient questions and listening to patient’s concerns/issues, taking ownership of solutions, and is able to accurately identify customer needs through involvement of leadership in resolving complex issues.
  • Gathers third party payment information and records charges
  • Ensures that each patient is offered and advised of the SOS Sliding Fee Scale.
  • Explains payment policy/billing procedures, and patient financial responsibility
  • Collects and receives patient fees, including patient insurance co-payments, co-insurance, deductibles, prior balances, and sliding fee payments.
  • Balances daily monies and receipts, and ensures accuracy of batch summaries with 100% accuracy. Follows SOS Accounting policy and procedures as it relates to collecting and handling cash.
  • Keeps patient appointments on schedule by notifying provider of patients’ arrival; reviewing service delivery compared to schedule; reminding provider of service delays.
  • Tracks no-shows report in the EHR system.
  • Prepares daily patient charts.
  • Perform general clerical duties, i.e., scanning information, tracking data, receiving and sorting correspondence and packages in an accurate and efficient manner.
  • Contributes to tracking reports and analyses requested by supervisor.
  • Work in collaboration with other members of the health care team in order to ensure patients receive timely care.
  • Follows HIPAA and PHI guidelines as per SOS Policy.
  • Attends training sessions as needed. Attends and contributes to department, team, and other clinic meetings.
  • Completes all SOS assigned compliance trainings timely.
  • Maintains the patient waiting area and keeps the area organized and tidy.
  • Completes all administrative duties and other duties as assigned by supervisor.
  • Works overtime if requested and authorized

QUALIFICATIONS and EDUCATION:

  • High school diploma or GED required
  • One year of healthcare office (medical or dental) experience including electronic health records system. Community clinic setting experience is preferred but not required.
  • Must have excellent customer service ability, good energy and a positive attitude.
  • Ability to complete basic math and has accurate cash handling skills.
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish Required. Proficient in English and Spanish for both verbal and written communication, including use of basic medical and/or dental terminology.
  • Ability to receive instruction and multi-task while working in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong computer skills, proficiency in data entry and Microsoft programs such as Word, Excel, Outlook and Internet Explorer.
  • Excellent written, interpersonal and verbal communication skills.
  • Demonstrated “detail-approach” to administration and organization
  • Ability to work with a wide variety of people from different backgrounds and cultures
  • Ability to maintain high level of confidentiality
