Job Description:

Neonatal Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant (Neonatology)

Opportunity to join an established team of Advanced Practice Providers supporting Intermountain Hospitals in the Salt Lake Valley:
Primary Children's Hospital level IV NICU
Intermountain Medical Center level III
LDS Hospital level II
Riverton Hospital level II
Alta View Hospital Well newborn unit
Newly built Primary Children's Miller Campus level III unit, located in Lehi, Utah

Onboarding will be provided at Primary Children's and Intermountain Medical Center, afterwards the APP may rotate to any of our other facilities in the area.

Flexible scheduling, the NNP may be hired as part time or full time dependent on candidate preference (24-40 hours per week). Shifts are typically 12-hours in length, which will include rotating day (0600-1800), night (1800-0600), weekend, and holiday responsibilities.

Job Essentials

Advanced Practice Providers (APPs) are accountable for the provision of patient care at the top of licensure, within their scope of practice. Licensed, credentialed and privileged to perform such duties as:

  • Maintenance and promotion of health and prevention of disease;
  • Assessment, diagnosis, treatment, correction, and consultation;
  • Procedures as outlined by specialty, and referral for health problems;
  • Education of the patient, patient's family, clinical staff, and others;
  • Prescription or administration of prescription drugs or devices in accordance with a consultation and referral plan;
  • Consultation with other healthcare providers;
  • Appropriate and timely documentation of clinical care;
  • Continually learning and developing for optimal patient care and outcomes.


Advanced Practice Providers may also participate in research, utilize evidence-based practice to improve quality patient care, protocol development, care process model development, and best practice standards for assigned patient population throughout our organization.


Minimum Qualifications

Current state license as an Advance Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) or Physician Assistant (PA).
- and -
Certification as a Neonatal Nurse Practitioner
or
Certification as a Physician Assistant and one or more years of NICU experience.
- and -
Eligible for State Controlled Substance License.
- and -
Eligible for Federal DEA Certificate II through V.
- and -
BLS Certification for Healthcare Providers.
- and -
Other certification as required (e.g. ACLS, PALS, TNCC, NRP).
