Position Title: Probation/Parole Officer I (Supervised by Jennifer Geiger)

Work Location: Faches Center, 951 29th Ave SW, Cedar Rapids, IA

Rotating Schedule -TBD

Each workday will begin at 5:30am and the end time of each day is determined by the workload. You are required to have 40 hours each week. The schedule will contain weekend hours.

Salary Range: $1,811.20 - $2,707.20 biweekly

Position Closes: May 23, 2023 at 4pm


DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES:

Supervision of persons ordered to probation or pretrial release, with special emphasis on pretrial caseloads. Responsibilities include assessment of pretrial defendants and prepares bond information for the court by utilizing risk assessments or pretrial report documents. Employee is responsible for collaborating with offender support systems and treatment providers to establish a framework of supportive services and development of protective factors. Employee may facilitates weekly educational/cognitive based classes with fidelity as the pretrial schedule permits, including preparation and familiarity with classroom material. The majority of work will be conducted in Linn county, however, assessments & pretrial interviews may be needed in the other Sixth Judicial counties we serve.


EDUCATION AND EXPEREINCE REQUIREMENTS:

Minimum qualifications requires graduation from a 4 year accredited college or university; OR two years of college (minimum of 48 hours) and two years human services/criminal justice experience; OR an equivalent combination of related education and/or human service/criminal justice experience to equal four years. Thirty-six months of satisfactory employment as a Residential Officer in a district or a similar position in another jurisdiction or agency.
