Assists in providing necessary protection, safety, coding and decoration of hospital as well as assists skilled and/or general in completing their tasks and performs a variety of duties in and around the hospital. In order to complete assigned duties the Painter will have access to all clinical and non-clinical departments including locked medication rooms on nursing units.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS :

EDUCATION, CERTIFICATION, AND/OR LICENSURE:

1. High School Diploma/GED

2. Must have valid driver’s license.

EXPERIENCE:

1. 5 years of commercial painting experience

CORE DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: The statements described here are intended to describe the general nature of work being performed by people assigned to this position. 1. Conducts regular rounds of all areas of the hospital, office building, and support service buildings to identify needs for repair of paint, walls, and wall coverings.

2. Paints, patches and repairs wall coverings as required.

3. Inspects and maintains safety markings on curbs and cross walks at least annually

4. Maintains painting materials and equipment in good operating condition

5. Maintains an appropriate inventory of paint and supplies and obtains pricing for items to be ordered.

6. Will be required to assist the Maintenance Technicians or groundskeepers when necessary. Will be expected to provide weekend Maintenance Technician duties on a rotating basis. Will participate in Facilities Special Work Teams for Projects and Snow Removal.

7. The Painter has access to, and is responsible for, performing assigned duties in locked medication rooms. The Painter is aware that they are not responsible for medications and should report any unsecured medications to a licensed professional.

8. Assumes responsibility by ensuring continued professional growth of self, attending formal and/or informal educational/professional activities.

9. Works with Director of Engineering to develop procedures and controls designed to assure safe use, storage and handling of painting supplies.
