POSITION SUMMARY

Stacks books from tote pans onto cardboard flats, creating stacks that will fit specific carton sizes.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (The following statements describe the general nature of work being performed in this job. They are not intended to be an exhaustive list of all duties. Additional responsibilities may be assigned by management):

• Stacks books from totes onto cardboard flat.
• Lifts empty totes to tote return conveyer.
• Pushes completed stack onto moving conveyer.
• Completes necessary forms to replace damaged books and repack over filled totes.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

This job has no supervisory responsibilities.

QUALIFICATIONS

• Less than high school education and up to three months experience.
• Ability to read a limited number of two- and three-syllable words and to recognize similarities and differences between words and between series of numbers. Ability to print and speak simple sentences.
• Ability to add and subtract two digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10s and 100s and perform these operations using units of American money and weight measurement, volume, and distance.
• Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions and deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, use hands and fingers, reach with hands and arms, and lift/move up to 10 pounds. The employee is occasionally required to walk; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; and lift/move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision requirements include close vision.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts and fumes or airborne particles. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.
