PURPOSE:

Lead, train, and develop a team of skilled employees in the execution of technical work in operation, maintenance, inspection, and minor repair of facility automation equipment and infrastructure. Independent judgment concerning equipment and facility operations, diagnosis, and selecting proper troubleshooting methods needed to restore operability or increase throughput of equipment. Escalate identified issues to appropriate facility staff. Support Automation Department initiatives in improving and sustaining an effective maintenance and repair program. Provide direction, support, and appropriate developmental feedback to team. Accurate assessment of time requirement to complete work and an appropriate level of attention to detail to ensure the work is completed fully to include job site cleanliness.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

Must be able to direct team to achieve daily tasking and move freely between tasks depending on workload. Train Packaging Operators on all tasks related to the facility, as needed. Assist in the safe and efficient operation of facility automation equipment. Ensure appropriate sanitation of equipment occurs as scheduled. Sanitation of equipment is a critical duty and responsibility of this position. Ensure appropriate inspections, calibrations, and preventative measures are conducted on all equipment. Perform preventative maintenance on facility equipment. Perform timely investigations, troubleshooting, and repairs to facility equipment and infrastructure in emergent and non-emergent situations. Maintain open communication with Automation, Production, and Quality leadership as needed. Integrate daily schedule into facility production schedule. Identify shortfalls and conflicts with schedule and provide solutions. Administrative tasks such as Daily Logs, Incident Reports, etc. Identify and provide solutions for improvement projects. Lead team in the completion of complex tasks. Identify causes of equipment failure and develop solutions. Train, mentor, and provide appropriate developmental feedback on progress of Operator staff. Ensure adherence to safety protocols and procedures. Maintain assigned tools, equipment, and supplies in good working condition. Maintain safe and clean working environment for self and all personnel at the facility. Perform other duties as assigned.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS:

Packaging equipment experience required for this position. Must demonstrate a working knowledge of all aspects of the Packaging Machine Operator Level 2. Must demonstrate the ability to independently operate safely and efficiently all packaging machine equipment. Must demonstrate the ability to perform Preventative Maintenance (PM) tasks, troubleshoot, make minor equipment repairs, and clean and sanitize equipment as required. Must be capable of training Packaging Machine Operator Trainees, Level 1’s, and Level 2’s on assigned equipment. Must be able to read and understand in written and oral form all applicable operating maintenance Food Safety procedures and training such as Safety Rules, Lock-Out/Tag-Out, and use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE). May be required to work weekends and overtime in support of Production requirements. Must maintain a positive and professional attitude at all times. Must have a good attendance record. General computer knowledge in Microsoft Outlook and Microsoft Office a plus. Bi-lingual English/Spanish a plus. English reading/writing highly recommended (technical publications are in English). Must pass pre-placement drug/alcohol screen, physical, and functional capacity evaluation.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

Must be able to remain in a stationary position throughout much of the working day at various heights. Ability to work outdoors. Ability to move in food processing facilities (sometimes through narrow passages, in wet areas, or on elevated platforms). Must be able to operate a motor vehicle. Ability to operate hand and power tools. Must be able to work in different temperatures (working temperatures as hot as 100° to 120° F and as cold as -20° F to 32° F). Must be able to work in a high noise area. Must be able to move items weighing up to 75 lbs to a height of 4.5 feet.

Pay: $18.50 - $23.50 per hour
