SUMMARY OF DUTIES: Primary purpose is to oversee the timely departure of delivery Drivers and communicate any issues during the shift to Management.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILTIES: Additional duties, which are necessary to carry out the function of the Overnight Dispatcher, may be assigned and are incorporated by reference into this job description.

Reports to work on time, as directed by the Transportation Manager, and complete all duties in a timely manner.

Prepares all essential items for the drivers including paperwork, customer envelopes, trailer keys, overnight locks, drop boxes and P.O.D. devices

Ensure Drivers perform their Daily Pretrip and are logged into the ELD (On Board Computer) prior to departure.

Coordinates driver and equipment coverage for all routes. Makes changes to the drivers and equipment based on driver call-offs and equipment breakdowns.

Responsible for safely moving equipment in the yard and to the dock based on warehouse needs. Swapping and hooking up equipment to match the dispatch schedule.

Coordinates repair services for reported break downs. Fuels equipment and primes fuel system as needed.

Responsible for wearing appropriate company approved attire while on company time and/or representing Imperial Trading co,

Responsible for finalizing the EOS report and accurately reporting any driver or equipment issues to the relieving shift. Any late routes or unusual delays in departures must be reported. Enters driver names in the AS400 system.

Responsible for maintaining operations/transportation files, routing/scheduling store deliveries, and general transportation dept. admin duties.

Must communicate effectively with other departments including but not limited to: sales, the computer room, warehouse personnel, driver’s room personnel, and all other ITC employees.

Responsible for monitoring the loading of routes according to planned dispatch times. Assures that loads are secure and prepared to ride without shifting or spilling. Any issues discovered are brought to the warehouse supervisors’ attention.

Performs any other duties assigned by the Transportation Manager

All personnel within this job description shall be subject to cross-training into jobs within the organization based on Company needs.

Position does not require a CDL but the right candidate must be able to couple, uncouple and move equipment in the yard.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:

None.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

The physical demands of this job include occasional strenuous physical activity. Safety procedures such as 3 point contact while climbing in and around Heavy Transportation Equipment must be met by the employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to climb ladders or ramps. The employee is frequently required to talk or hear and use hands to finger, handle or feel. The employee is regularly required to stand, walk, and reach with hands and arms.

The employee must regularly lift 20-40 pounds and occasionally lift 50 to 75 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, and the ability to adjust focus.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee must frequently work in wet humid and freezing conditions and while working in outdoor weather conditions.
