Sun Thurs. 7am-3pm (this position you will be paired directly with a SEPTA police Officer as your partner).

(2) Split shift opportunities Fri. and Sat. 6am-2pm, Sun. and Mon. 2pm-10pm

(2) Tues - Sat. 2pm-10pm

Outreach Specialist works as part of a team along specific SEPTA stations across the system. This role is the first point of contact for vulnerable individuals and should provide information/resources, guidance, and other support. This role involves a lot of walking, most of which occurs in the outside elements.

Outreach

• Influences clients in the community as a part of the outreach team.
• Always maintain situational awareness and use de-escalation strategies to maintain a calm and welcoming environment, conducting individual interventions as needed.
• Assist individuals with building social skills in the community that will enhance quality of life.
• Assist individuals in developing empowerment skills through education and self-advocacy.
• Offer a non-judgmental forum for listening and providing empathy for the struggles of individuals.
• Outreach to, engagement of, and relationship build with participants with behavioral health needs.

Documentation/Administrative

• Keeps updated files and documentation regarding engagements and referrals through Excel Spreadsheets
• Make placement for homeless individuals including shelters, cafes, safe havens or treatment options.
• Participate in all staff meetings and required trainings.

Requirements:

• Prior Outreach Experience
  

• HS Diploma or GED

• At least 1 yr. experience working with homeless population or substance use disorder preferred

• CPR

• FBI Clearance (within a year)

• Two forms of Identification

• $17.00 per hour to start with performance-based increases
